Overview:
The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) is responsible for providing high quality patient care through the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of communication and swallowing disorders. The SLP works collaboratively with physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary treatment teams to develop and implement individualized treatment plans that improve patient outcomes and quality of life.


What you will be doing:
Clinical Assessment and Treatment

  • Conduct comprehensive swallowing evaluations, including patient history review, physical assessment, direct observation, and collaboration with physicians and interdisciplinary treatment teams.

  • Establish appropriate diagnoses and develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings.

  • Provide therapeutic interventions for swallowing and communication disorders.

  • Develop and implement strategies to improve swallowing function and reduce aspiration and choking risks.

  • Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as clinically indicated.

Patient Care and Documentation

  • Perform ongoing patient re-evaluations and adjust treatment goals as necessary.

  • Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough documentation in the patient's medical record.

  • Ensure documentation clearly identifies target symptoms, treatment interventions, patient progress, and outcomes.

  • Complete all documentation within established facility and regulatory timeframes.

  • Coordinate referrals and consultations with internal departments and external healthcare providers as appropriate.


What you must have:

  • Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited program.

  • Current and unrestricted Texas Speech Language Pathologist license.

  • Current CPR/BLS certification.

  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

  • All licenses and certifications must remain active and in good standing throughout the assignment.

  • Copies of all required certifications and credentials must be maintained and available upon request.


Nice to have:

  • Experience working in behavioral health, psychiatric, rehabilitation, or inpatient healthcare settings.

  • Experience treating patients with swallowing disorders and complex medical or mental health conditions.

  • Strong communication, documentation, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
