Overview:
Join a well-established boutique CPA firm with approximately 12 team members, including Partners, Managers, Senior Accountants, CPA students, and administrative staff. The firm provides assurance, accounting, tax, and advisory services to privately owned businesses, construction companies, professional service organizations, and non-profit organizations. This opportunity is available due to a replacement hire. Reporting to the Senior Manager and Partners, the Senior Accountant will work across assurance and tax engagements while collaborating with a close-knit team. This role is ideal for someone looking to continue building a long-term career in public practice.


What you will be doing:

  • Prepare and review working paper files and financial statements for compilation, review, and audit engagements.
  • Prepare corporate, personal, trust, and charity tax returns.
  • Prepare and review GST/HST, PST, WCB, and other compliance filings.
  • Review the work of junior staff and provide coaching and mentorship to CPA students.
  • Monitor engagement progress and ensure client deadlines are met.
  • Communicate directly with clients and the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) on routine matters.
  • Collaborate with Partners and team members to resolve accounting, assurance, and tax-related issues.
  • Assist with a variety of client engagements while maintaining high standards of accuracy and client service.

What you must have:
  • CPA designation.
  • Minimum 2 years of post-designation public practice experience in a Senior Accountant role.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing assurance engagements.
  • Comfortable working across both assurance and tax engagements.
  • Experience reviewing and mentoring junior staff is preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative environment.
  • Interest in building a long-term career in public practice.
Technical Skills
Experience with the following is preferred:
  • CaseWare
  • Taxprep
  • QuickBooks
  • Sage 50 (Simply Accounting)
  • Microsoft Office (particularly Excel)
  • ASPE (required)
  • IFRS experience (an asset)

Salary/Rate Range: $85,000–$95,000+ (depending on experience)
