Medical Program Assistant Associate (MPAA)
Shift: Monday through Friday, 7:45am – 4:30 pmPosition Summary
The Medical Program Assistant Associate (MPAA) provides essential administrative and clerical support to the healthcare team, ensuring the efficient coordination of patient care and daily clinical operations. Serving in a role similar to a unit clerk, the MPAA manages patient records, coordinates appointments, supports telemedicine services, and facilitates communication between healthcare providers and external facilities.
Essential Responsibilities

Coordinate and schedule onsite and offsite patient appointments and medical services.

Prepare, organize, and pack medical charts and documentation for patient transfers, specialty appointments, and releases.

Request and obtain provider notes, consultation reports, diagnostic results, and other medical records from outside facilities and providers.

Scan, index, and maintain accurate electronic and paper medical records.

Conduct medical record and file reviews to ensure documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with organizational policies.

Gather and organize legal records and other required documentation to support patient care and regulatory requirements.

Facilitate and monitor telemedicine appointments by assisting patients and providers with scheduling, setup, and documentation.

Serve as a central point of communication between clinical staff, providers, and external healthcare organizations.

Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies.

Perform additional administrative and clerical duties as assigned to support the daily operations of the healthcare unit.
Qualifications

Previous experience in a medical office, hospital, correctional healthcare, or other healthcare setting preferred.

Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare documentation practices.

Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems and Microsoft Office applications.

Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.

Ability to maintain accuracy while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
