Overview:
We need a hands-on SAP functional professional with a deep understanding of data who is comfortable sitting with a business user to understand a problem, digging into SAP and the underlying data, determining the root cause, defining the solution, documenting it clearly, working with developers to implement it, and validating the final result. This is not a purely documentation, governance, or project-management role. We are looking for someone who is willing and able to get into the details, work directly with the data and SAP system, and take ownership of solving problems.

What you will be doing:

• Work directly with business users and subject matter experts to understand business processes, pain points, and master data requirements.

• Gather, analyze, and document business and functional requirements related to SAP master data.

• Translate business requirements into practical SAP functional solutions.

• Take ownership of master data processes, including data creation, maintenance, governance, validation, quality, and remediation.

• Analyze existing master data and identify data quality issues, gaps, inconsistencies, and opportunities for improvement.

• Develop and maintain detailed functional specifications, technical requirements, process documentation, data mapping documents, and solution designs.

• Work closely with SAP technical/development teams to explain requirements and ensure solutions are delivered as designed.

• Participate in configuration, testing, data validation, defect resolution, and deployment activities.

• Create and execute test scenarios and support functional, integration, and user acceptance testing.

• Investigate data-related issues and determine root causes across SAP processes and master data.

• Support data migration, cleansing, transformation, validation, and reconciliation activities where required.

• Define data rules, validation requirements, field mappings, and business logic.

• Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to establish and improve master data standards and governance.

• Provide hands-on production support and troubleshoot functional/data issues.

• Identify opportunities to improve data quality, process efficiency, and SAP usability.

• Act as a subject matter expert for SAP master data and associated business processes.

What you must have:

• Strong hands-on SAP functional experience with a significant focus on master data.

• Strong understanding of SAP business processes and how master data supports and impacts those processes.

• Experience with SAP S/4HANA and/or ECC.

• Demonstrated experience gathering requirements directly from business users and translating them into SAP solutions.

• Strong experience creating functional specifications and technical documentation.

• Experience working with developers/technical teams to translate functional requirements into technical solutions.

• Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.

• Experience with data cleansing, validation, mapping, transformation, and reconciliation.

• Comfortable working directly in SAP to investigate data, processes, configuration, and issues.

• Strong understanding of master data structures, dependencies, and relationships within SAP.

• Experience with SAP testing, defect management, and user acceptance testing.

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical and SAP concepts to business users.

Nice to have:

• Experience with SAP master data domains such as Material, Customer, Vendor/Business Partner, Finance, or related master data.

• Experience with SAP data migration or transformation projects.

• Familiarity with SAP integration points and downstream/upstream data dependencies.

• Experience with SAP MDG or other master data governance solutions.

• Experience with SQL, data analysis tools, or other methods of investigating and validating large datasets.

• Experience supporting large-scale SAP implementations, transformations, or data remediation initiatives.
