Overview:
We are recruiting on behalf of a pharmaceutical client to fill a Medical Director, US Medical Affairs role -- a strategic medical leadership role for the Alzheimer's Disease therapeutic area. This is a high-visibility seat responsible for shaping medical affairs strategy, real-world evidence generation, and scientific communication across the disease state, with direct influence over lifecycle strategy and the company's reputation among key external stakeholders. What you will be doing:
Real-World Evidence & Data Generation

• Oversee the planning and execution of real-world evidence and data generation activities for the Alzheimer's Disease portfolio

• Plan and implement real-world studies for assigned products, including strategic development and ongoing oversight

• Incorporate insights from scientific trends and the treatment landscape by participating in external events and activities

Medical Affairs Strategy & Planning

• Contribute to the Medical Affairs Plan and provide ongoing training and mentoring to associate directors

• Contribute to the development of medical strategy for major products and/or indications, providing critical medical input into lifecycle management strategies

• Work with key internal stakeholders to support development and communication of medical plans for the therapeutic area and track progress for reporting

Medical Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement

• Serve as a medical leader and subject matter expert for relevant external (HCPs, strategic alliances) and internal stakeholdersServe as a medical expert providing direction for assigned products on key internal business processes, including active participation in relevant medical review committee

• Liaise with external stakeholders to solicit feedback and strengthen the company's medical reputation in the disease state community

Medical & Scientific Content Approval

• Seek all relevant approvals of medical and scientific content for assigned therapeutic areas

• Approve medical and scientific content of all relevant materials and communications

Operational & Talent Leadership

• Direct and manage financial planning/forecasting and budget management, vendor management, and timeline development and tracking, and assess resource needs for respective programs

• Manage talent within own area in terms of goal setting, performance management, development, and engagement

What you must have:

• Advanced degree in sciences (Ph.D., PharmD, or MD) or related field with 8+ years of experience in the pharma/biotech industry

• Preferred experience in the therapeutic area, including in an in-house Medical Affairs role in a strategic decision-making capacity

• Practical knowledge of FDA regulations/ICH guidelines regarding clinical studies in the relevant therapeutic area

• Substantial experience across areas of Medical Affairs functions in the therapeutic area is preferred

• Past leadership experience with management responsibilities (budgets, resources, vendors, etc.) for cross-functional teams at a country/large-region level

Salary/Rate Range: $217,000 - $280,000 base salary, commensurate with experience and qualifications, plus 25% annual bonus target and $30,000 long-term incentive (LTI).
