Occupational Health Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Frederick, Maryland
Contract Dates: October 1, 2026 - December 31, 2026, with potential for extension
Schedule: Tuesday through Friday, 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Occupational Health Registered Nurse (RN) for a contract assignment in Frederick, Maryland. The RN will provide comprehensive occupational health and clinical services to employees in an onsite health center environment.

The ideal candidate will have a strong emergency room background, excellent clinical assessment and phlebotomy skills, and the ability to work independently during an overnight shift. Previous occupational health experience is strongly preferred. Candidates with additional urgent care or ambulatory care experience are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing and occupational health services to employees.

• Perform clinical assessments and determine appropriate interventions based on presenting symptoms and conditions.

• Provide initial evaluation and treatment for workplace injuries, illnesses, and other acute health concerns within the RN scope of practice.

• Perform phlebotomy and other applicable clinical procedures.

• Conduct health screenings and provide employee health education.

• Support workplace health and safety initiatives designed to maintain a healthy, safe, and productive work environment.

• Partner with appropriate stakeholders to identify and mitigate potential workplace health hazards.

• Assist with fitness-for-duty and return-to-work evaluations and processes.

• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient encounters and occupational health services.

• Respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations.

• Work independently and effectively in a fast-paced onsite clinical environment.

• Follow established clinical protocols, regulatory requirements, and workplace health and safety standards.

Required Qualifications

• Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.

• Minimum of three years of RN experience in an occupational health clinic, emergency room, or other ambulatory care setting.

• Emergency Room (ER) experience is required.

• Strong clinical assessment skills.

• Strong phlebotomy skills.

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification with hands-on training through the American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or equivalent approved provider.

• Ability to work independently and make appropriate clinical decisions in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous Occupational Health RN experience strongly preferred.

• Experience in urgent care or ambulatory care settings.

• Certification in Occupational Health (COHN or COHN-S), Emergency Nursing, or Case Management preferred and may be required depending on site requirements.

• Experience with workplace health programs, including:

  • Workplace hazard identification and mitigation

  • Employee health screenings and education

  • Fitness-for-duty evaluations

  • Return-to-work assessments and coordination
