Job Title: Senior Director, Technology Infrastructure, Security & Operations
Job ID: 91113
Location: Toronto, Ontario

Overview:
The Senior Director, Technology Infrastructure, Security & Operations is the senior operational technology leader. The role is accountable for enterprise infrastructure, cybersecurity, cloud platforms, networking, identity and access management, disaster recovery, operational resilience, technology risk, and technology service management. The Senior Director translates technology strategy into disciplined operational execution, serves as the primary escalation leader for critical infrastructure and security matters, and provides leadership continuity when acting on behalf of the CTO. The role enables the CTO to remain focused on enterprise strategy, architecture, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, innovation, governance, and business partnership. This mandate is intentionally distinct from Information Systems and Information Technology Experience. It does not own enterprise applications, data and analytics, business-process solutions, the service desk, end-user support, technology training, or adoption.

What you will be doing:
Executive Technology Leadership & CTO Delegation

  • Act as the CTO's operational deputy and second-in-command for infrastructure, cybersecurity, technology operations, resilience, and technology risk.

  • Represent the CTO in operational, governance, vendor, audit, and executive discussions within the scope of the role.

  • Provide leadership continuity during the CTO's absence and serve as the primary escalation point for significant operational technology matters.

  • Support enterprise technology planning, annual budgeting, investment prioritization, governance, and executive reporting.

  • Translate enterprise technology direction into practical roadmaps, standards, controls, and operating plans.

Infrastructure, Cloud & Network Services

  • Lead the strategy, modernization, reliability, and lifecycle management of cloud, server, storage, virtualization, network, telecommunications, and core infrastructure platforms.

  • Provide strategic and technical oversight of Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365 platform infrastructure, Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, networking, firewalls, VPN, Wi-Fi, and related technologies.

  • Establish architecture principles and standards for infrastructure configuration, monitoring, patching, administration, capacity, performance, and lifecycle management.

  • Identify technical debt, infrastructure risks, and modernization opportunities and establish practical remediation plans.

  • Ensure infrastructure investments appropriately balance security, resilience, scalability, performance, cost, and supportability.

Cybersecurity & Technology Risk

  • Lead the organization's infrastructure and operational cybersecurity program.

  • Establish and maintain security standards and technical controls across identity, endpoints, networks, cloud platforms, and infrastructure.

  • Drive vulnerability management, security hardening, patching, privileged access management, multifactor authentication, endpoint protection, monitoring, incident response, and remediation.

  • Maintain visibility into significant cybersecurity and infrastructure risks and provide clear executive reporting on risk exposure and remediation progress.

  • Support technology audits, security assessments, compliance initiatives, and recognized cybersecurity frameworks.

Identity & Access Management

  • Establish and oversee identity and access management governance across the organization.

  • Strengthen Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID governance, identity security, privileged access, authentication, and administrative controls.

  • Partner with Human Resources, Information Systems, and IT Experience teams to strengthen joiner, mover, and leaver processes.

  • Promote least-privilege access, strong authentication, and appropriate segregation of duties.

Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery & Resilience

  • Own the technology components of disaster recovery, backup, recovery, replication, retention, and infrastructure resilience.

  • Ensure backups and recovery processes are monitored and regularly validated through restoration and recovery testing.

  • Maintain technology disaster recovery plans and coordinate testing with business and technology stakeholders.

  • Identify critical infrastructure dependencies and address resilience gaps.

Technology Operations & Service Management

  • Establish operational disciplines for incident, problem, change, configuration, capacity, and availability management.

  • Provide senior technical leadership for major incidents, including escalation, communication, stabilization, root-cause analysis, and corrective action.

  • Establish meaningful infrastructure, security, service, and risk performance indicators.

  • Ensure systems, configurations, architecture, processes, and operational procedures are appropriately documented.

  • Coordinate operational hand-offs and service dependencies with the Director, Information Technology Experience without assuming ownership of the service desk or end-user support.

Technology Portfolio, Financial & Vendor Management

  • Oversee delivery of infrastructure, cybersecurity, resilience, and operational technology initiatives, including risks, dependencies, resources, budgets, and outcomes.

  • Develop and manage infrastructure, cybersecurity, cloud, telecommunications, and managed service budgets.

  • Prepare business cases and investment recommendations for infrastructure and cybersecurity initiatives.

  • Manage key technology vendors, telecommunications providers, managed service providers, and cybersecurity partners.

  • Establish service expectations and hold external providers accountable for performance, security, and contractual obligations.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop infrastructure, cybersecurity, identity, network, and technology operations professionals.

  • Establish clear responsibilities, priorities, decision rights, and performance expectations.

  • Build a culture of accountability, security, documentation, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

  • Balance project delivery, security remediation, operational support, and longer-term modernization priorities.

  • Build leadership depth, technical capability, and succession readiness within the function.

What you must have:

  • Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 10+ years of progressive experience across infrastructure, cloud, networking, security, or technology operations.

  • Strong understanding of enterprise networking, firewalls, VPNs, virtualization, storage, backup, disaster recovery, identity security, privileged access, vulnerability management, endpoint security, and infrastructure hardening.

  • Demonstrated experience leading infrastructure modernization and cybersecurity improvement initiatives.

  • Experience managing technology budgets, vendors, telecommunications providers, managed services, and commercial agreements.

  • Strong incident-management, problem-solving, executive communication, and risk-translation capabilities.

Nice to have:

  • Microsoft Azure and Microsoft security certifications.

  • CISSP, CISM, CCSP, or comparable security credentials.

  • Experience applying NIST Cybersecurity Framework, CIS Controls, ISO/IEC 27001, or similar standards.

  • ITIL or comparable IT service-management experience.

  • Experience establishing or improving CMDB and IT asset-management practices.

  • Experience supporting multiple business units within a shared corporate technology environment.

  • Experience in real estate, construction, property management, retirement living, or asset management is an asset.

  • Executive presence and clear business communication.

  • Practical, risk-based approach to cybersecurity.

  • Ownership, accountability, and decisive incident leadership.

  • Ability to develop technical leaders and build succession depth.

  • Financial, commercial, and vendor-management acumen.

  • Ability to prioritize effectively when resources are constrained.

  • Ability to balance immediate operational needs with longer-term modernization.

  • Collaborative leadership across Information Systems, IT Experience, business units, and external partners.
