Overview:
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Power Systems & Controls Superintendent is responsible for the integrity of the mill wide power system, focusing on efficient power distribution, turbines, electrical drives and new technology. This complex role works collaboratively with Operation, Maintenance and Engineering on day-to-day operational, capital and major maintenance programs to maintain power system efficiency, including overseeing the distributed control system (DCS).  The position requires a detail-oriented professional with thorough knowledge of high voltage and turbo generation systems, distribution control system process, renewal plans and development.
 

What you will be doing:

• 400,000 ADMt/yr. NBSK Mill Power grid inter-connections with the company

• Main substation & area transformers, power distribution centers, and motor control centers 

• Turbo Generators and load shedding scheme

• Mill Power System Relay protection scheme

• Electrical Safety Programs (High Voltage, Arc Flash)

• Electrical Engineering design maintenance and development 

• Oversee DCS process and future development.

• Ensure safety and compliance accountabilities to the company Electrical Building Inspector, CSA and Worksafe BC relevant Codes, Standards, Regulations and Procedures.

 
What you must have:

• Licensed Electrical Engineer (P.Eng) – Registered with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC).

• 10+ years of experience in electrical engineering, specializing in industrial and power generation projects.

• Expertise in Pulp Technology – In-depth knowledge of pulp operations, production methods, and electrical systems integration.

• Technical leadership in multi-disciplinary projects, ensuring efficient electrical design and implementation.

• Proficient in software tools – Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, and 3D design/drafting techniques

• Strong communication skills – Effective in both written and verbal communication.

• Proven leadership and negotiation abilities – Skilled in managing dynamic team environments and vendor interactions.

• PMP designation (asset) – Project Management Professional certification is considered an advantage.

Salary/Rate Range: $125,000 - $150,000
