Overview:
Our government client in Winnipeg, MB is looking a Technical Writer for an initial 24-month (2yr) contract with an option for 3 x 1yr extensions, reference #098-XXX-25-076. It is preferred that candidates be local but remote candidates will be considered that may occasionally need to travel onsite.


What you will be doing:
Our client requires one (1) external resource (the "Technical Writer") to assist in developing and improving documentation to support the multi-stream IT Risk Mitigation Initiatives. The Technical Writer will collaborate with internal teams and external consultants to produce and maintain a wide range of technical and operational documentation, including but not limited to:

  • Standard operating procedures (SOPs);

  • System architecture and design documentation;

  • Process diagrams and workflows;

  • Configuration and deployment guides;

  • Disaster recovery playbooks and documentation;

  • Incident response and recovery playbooks;

  • Data centre design and configuration documentation;

  • User and administrator manuals;

  • Policy and compliance documentation;

  • Knowledge base articles and FAQs;

  • Training materials and onboarding guides;

  • Request for Proposal (RFP) documentation;

  • Communication assets, templates, and reporting; and


What you must have:

  • Minimum 5 years IT technical writing experience;

  • Developing training materials for adult learners;

  • Delivering similar technical writing outputs described in the description of services, specifically application discovery playbooks, and disaster recovery strategies; and

  • Using Microsoft tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, SharePoint, and Visio at a high proficiency level.

  • Communication and presentation skills;

  • Jira and Confluence;

  • Applying system design principles in the context of technical writing;

  • Documenting technological solutions to support business processes;

  • Creating and documenting system documents such as process diagrams;

  • Documenting business applications in a corporate environment;

  • Business and systems analysis;

  • Project management.
