Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated engineer with deep expertise in architecting, deploying, and automating on-premises Kubernetes clusters, including infrastructure provisioning, CI/CD integration, and cluster lifecycle management.
What You’ll Do:
- Deploy, manage, and maintain highly available Kubernetes clusters (on-prem and/or cloud)
- Automate cluster provisioning, upgrades, patching, and scaling
- Configure and manage networking, storage, ingress, and namespaces within Kubernetes
- Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions for clusters and workloads
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to pods, nodes, control plane components, and application deployments
- Document infrastructure, configurations, and operational processes
- Participate in on-call rotation and incident response processes
- Embrace an automation-first mindset
Your Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design (major or incremental) of Kubernetes infrastructure
- Assist in provisioning Kubernetes infrastructure
- Identify, troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve system-related issues as they arise
- Monitor dashboards, logs, and alerts to ensure issues are quickly identified and addressed
- Provide ongoing operational support and collaborate with team members on issue resolution
- Manage and administer incident, problem, and service request queues
- Develop and maintain system guides, runbooks, and documentation
- Identify opportunities for automation and implementation
What You Must Have:
We’re looking for someone eager to grow in the role and expand their Kubernetes skill set as the infrastructure evolves.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience managing Kubernetes clusters in production
- Strong understanding of Kubernetes internals (control plane, scheduler, kubelet, etc.)
- Experience with on-prem Kubernetes (e.g., kubeadm, RKE, OpenShift) and/or managed services (EKS, GKE, AKS)
- Proficiency in Linux systems administration and containerization (Docker)
- Strong scripting and automation skills (Bash, Python, Ansible)
- Proactive problem solver who takes initiative and can dig into open-source code when needed
- Ability to simplify complex systems and concepts
- Experience in troubleshooting networking issues
- Experience working in Agile teams
- Self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented
- Able to balance priorities while keeping the bigger picture in mind
- Confident communicator who can suggest improvements constructively
- Collaborative mindset across cross-functional teams
Nice to Have:
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
- Experience with on-premise infrastructure environments
- Understanding of modern software delivery practices (feature toggling, zero-downtime deployments)
Salary Range: $65-$130k CAD
