Overview:
Our client is seeking an experienced Behavioral Health Medical Director for a fully remote, temp-to-perm opportunity with a nationally recognized healthcare organization supporting complex managed care populations. This physician leader will provide clinical oversight, behavioral health consultation, utilization management support, and medical leadership within a collaborative managed care environment. Candidates must currently reside in one of the approved states.


What you will be doing:

• Provide clinical leadership and behavioral health expertise across medical management operations

• Support utilization management, quality management, case management, and disease management functions

• Conduct medical necessity reviews and peer-to-peer consultations

• Collaborate with senior medical leadership on behavioral health strategy and integrated care initiatives

• Provide consultation and clinical guidance to care management and behavioral health teams

• Participate in committees, quality improvement efforts, and operational initiatives

• Review behavioral health operations and identify process improvement opportunities

• Serve as a behavioral health subject matter expert within a managed care environment

What you must have:

• MD (Doctor of Medicine) required

• Board Certification in Psychiatry required

• Current unrestricted U.S. medical license

• U.S. Citizenship required

• Ability to obtain and maintain Department of Defense security clearance

• Minimum 5 years of clinical practice experience

• Minimum 5 years of medical management experience within managed care

• Strong background in:

  • Utilization Management (UM)

  • Quality Management (QM)

  • Case Management

  • Disease Management

• Strong communication and physician leadership capabilities

Nice to have:

• TRICARE, VA, or government healthcare experience

• Advanced degree or certification in medical management

• Experience within complex healthcare systems and matrix organizations

Technical & Remote Requirements

• Dedicated home office environment required

• Hard-wired Ethernet/IPv4 internet connection required

• Ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams and leadership groups

• Flexibility to support occasional priority leadership meetings outside standard business hours

Salary/Rate Range:  $137.00 – $145.00/hour W2
