The RN Stress Technician provides skilled nursing care and technical support during cardiac and pulmonary stress testing procedures. This role blends patient assessment, clinical judgment, and hands-on operation of stress testing equipment to ensure safe, accurate, and efficient diagnostic testing. You will work closely with cardiologists, providers, and cardiopulmonary teams while monitoring patients throughout exercise and pharmacologic stress testing procedures.
What you will be doing:
Patient Care & Monitoring

Perform pre-test nursing assessments including vital signs, cardiac history, medication review, and patient readiness evaluations

Educate patients on stress testing procedures and help create a calm, supportive experience

Prepare patients for testing including lead placement and monitoring setup
-
Continuously monitor ECG rhythms, oxygen saturation, blood pressure, and patient condition during procedures

Recognize changes in patient status and respond quickly using strong clinical judgment and emergency protocols
Technical & Diagnostic Support

Assist with exercise and pharmacologic stress testing procedures

Operate treadmill, bicycle, ECG, and stress testing equipment
-
Administer medications per protocol when credentialed and authorized

Accurately document testing procedures, observations, and patient responses in the EMR

Troubleshoot minor equipment issues and ensure testing equipment is functioning properly
Collaboration & Teamwork

Communicate effectively with cardiologists, providers, nurses, and healthcare teams regarding patient status and test results

Support efficient patient flow and scheduling within the department

Participate in quality improvement initiatives, staff education, and departmental meetings

Maintain a positive, team-oriented work environment focused on exceptional patient care
What you must have:

Active Oregon RN License
-
BLS Certification
-
ACLS Certification
-
Graduate of an accredited nursing program
Preferred:
-
Experience with cardiac stress testing, telemetry, ECG interpretation, or cardiopulmonary diagnostics

Background in ER, ICU, PCU, Telemetry, or Cardiology nursing

Strong assessment skills and ability to respond quickly in high-acuity situations
