Overview:
The Writing Professional delivers communication advice and support to leaders for confidential and sensitive information as well as researches, designs, writes, edits and maintains corporate, marketing, web/social, or technical materials enabling meaningful communication with the company’s intended audience. The Writing Professional is most likely a specialist in a particular style of writing and has the ability to think critically and adapt to produce content and pieces for internal and external channels.
What you will be doing:

Support leaders by providing advice on confidential and sensitive communication in the areas of writing, style, and approach to create communication materials including speeches and reports that most effectively engage the company's intended audience.

Collect and research relevant information by collaborating with subject matter experts to generate source content that represents the company’s intended message.

Translate and refine source content into materials that are user-friendly, concise, accurate, and clear following the company’s writing guidelines.

Design and create media that is simple and engaging by sourcing graphics that follow basic design principles and the company’s internal brand guidelines in the use of colours, logo, typography, and illustration.

Deliver the company’s message by integrating excellent writing and a visually appealing format into communication materials that meet the audiences’ needs.

Ensure easy retrieval, safeguarding, and proper version control of documents by organizing communication materials using document management systems and following the company’s document management standards.

Coordinate with other team members in completing the development and layout of articles, technical documents, marketing materials, web and/or social content to produce communication that optimizes audience engagement and interaction.

Present the company’s online message to its diverse audience following online user experience design principles so that the communication is usable, accessible, and credible.

Plan, research, write, and edit on senior-level, corporate communications products and reports, speeches and presentations.

Coach and advise senior leadership and support their growth as communications leaders within their teams.

Provide communications planning support and guidance to project teams.

Lead portfolios of work on project teams for various departments –beyond discreet assignments such as consultation processes and change management processes.

Self starter, requires minimum supervision
What you must have:
-
Post-secondary degree or diploma in Writing, Communication, Journalism or equivalent – portfolio required

Advanced MS Office skills (Word and PowerPoint)

Advanced Adobe skills
-
Advanced English skills for professional environment, written and spoken

Graphic design skills, an asset
-
Excellent verbal and written English
-
Applicants will be required to submit a relevant writing portfolio and relevant work experience A minimum six (6) years of working experience as a writer.
Salary Range/Rate: $50.00 -$61.00 per hour
Term: 6-month contract ;most likely to extend
