Overview:
The Commercial Department Manager will be responsible for the planning, scheduling, implementation and tracking of all projects and activities. This position is responsible for our project management, estimating and sheet metal teams within this department and is the primary liaison for our customer, directing communications and settling concerns or issues if they arise.
What you will be doing:

Ensure all projects are completed on schedule, within scope, and within budget.

Provide oversight and manage the departments estimating and project management teams.

Ensure that the department always adheres to all safety policies and procedures.

If required, hiring of field personal based on current and future project schedules.

Maintain quality control measures on all projects to prevent re-work, call backs and potential insurance claims.

Encourage continuous improvement in project management processes and techniques.

Lead and mentor project management team and related support staff fostering a results driven environment.

Help develop and manage departments fiscal budgets.

Allocate resources effectively to support project and departments requirements.

Collaborate with other department managers and staff within company.

Supervising and managing staff, including hiring, training performance evaluation, and any disciplinary actions.
What you must have:
-
10+ years experience managing team members within a mechanical trades environment
-
Journeyman Plumber with red seal certification
-
Have a gas B ticket
-
Experience with HVAC/R, ducting and sheetmetal
-
Strong general computer and documentation skills
-
Strong understanding of project contracts
-
Strong organizational and leadership skills
-
Proficient in reading and interpreting mechanical IFC drawings and related specifications

Create and maintain relationships with general contractors, vendors, wholesalers, engineers and stakeholders for current and future projects

Previous estimating experience would be an asset

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Knowledge of industry and regulatory codes and standards
License / Certifications

BC drivers license (Required)

Plumbing red seal (Required)

Gas B ticket (Required)

PMP (Nice to have)

10+ years experience as Department Lead / Project Management

Experienced journeyman plumber with a gas B ticket

Salary/Rate Range: $100,000 - $115,000
