Responsibilities:
- Ensures the application of health, safety and environment standards and practices. To comply with HSE procedures, report any incident or observation, perform inspections and participate in the investigation process. Implement the preventive/corrective actions. Keep updated the risk analysis and the environmental aspect assessment.
- Responsible for performance management of direct reports by consistently applying the CBA and annual performance reviews. This position is a key component in the Maintenance Process.
- Optimizes reliability and maintainability of equipment by defining the maintenance strategy for each system, developing, and supervising the execution of the Preventive Maintenance plan, ensuring systematic failure, problem and performance analysis on equipment, defining corrective actions and generating improvement opportunities, providing technical support to emergency crews and staff areas.
- Maintain a visible presence in the mill to foster employee engagement, communication and assess work process effectiveness within the team.
- Draws up the maintenance cost budget and keep costs within agreed limits.
- Guarantees technical resource availability, ensuring a suitable minimum stock.
- Manages and updates the maintenance information system and technical documentation, keeping record of the information related to their area.
- Supports the Engineering area in the research and assessment of the best equipment available and the startup of new pieces of equipment. In addition, support other areas in the definitions related to their area of responsibility.
- Interacts with internal and/or external contacts with a higher level of autonomy.
- Complies with our client's policies, procedures and management standards, and ensures adherence with all laws and regulations that apply to the area of responsibility.
- Proactively motivates, coaches, communicates with and develops their staff and manages HR related activities in line with HR norms and procedures. Protects from damage, theft or misuse the facilities, equipment and other physical resources assigned to their area.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years experience in industrial maintenance, trades work or hands-on engineering technician is an asset.
- 5+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Post-secondary education in Mechanical Trade (433a), Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
- Applicant must be able to read mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics.
- Applicant must be familiar with manufacturing environment safety procedures.
- Previous experience with maintenance on cranes or lifting equipment considered an asset.
- Previous experience with SAP considered an asset.
- Previous experience and knowledge of CSA, CMAA 70, ASME B-30 Standards an asset.
Scope of Machines & Equipment:
Top Running Overhead Cranes using Magnets, Top Running Overhead Cranes with Hook Block or Boom, Top Running Overhead Crane Runways, Rails, Components & Structure, Underhung Cranes, Jib & Gantry Cranes, Crane Structures, Motor Holding Brakes, Couplings, Gearboxes, Wire Rope, Sheaves, Connections, Bearings, Fits and Pre-packaged Hoists.
Schedule & Working Conditions:
- 8hr Days – Monday to Friday, with flexibility based on business needs.
- Work is performed in a steel manufacturing mill.
Salary/Rate Range: $95,000 - $115,000
