Overview:
Reporting to the Vice President, Pulp Operations, you will be part of a results-oriented team whose members are encouraged to go above and beyond. The General Manager of a pulp mill is responsible for the overall management of the mill's operations, including human resources, production, safety, quality, and maintenance. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a deep understanding of pulp manufacturing processes.
What you will be doing:

Ensure compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations.

Oversee and coordinate all production activities to ensure maximum efficiency and optimal quality.

Develop and implement strategies to improve productivity and reduce operational costs.

Ensure compliance with environmental laws, standards and policies and the application of sustainable forestry practices.

Ensure the application of collective labour agreements.

Manage the mill's budgets and monitor expenditures to ensure efficient use of resources.

Mentor and train staff to develop their skills and improve their performance.

Collaborate with sales and marketing departments to align production with market needs.

Analyze production data and prepare reports for senior management.
What you must have:

Degree in industrial engineering, operations management, or a related field.

10 years of experience in the pulp and paper industry or manufacturing industry: significant experience in managing a manufacturing mill, preferably in the pulp, paper and Tissue industry.

Experience in maintenance is an asset.
