What will you do as a Tax Manager?
The Tax Manager will play a pivotal role in managing tax compliance and planning activities across all the regions of the company, which include North America, Europe and Asia Pacific. Working as part of our global Finance team and reporting to the Group Controller, the successful candidate will collaborate with business leaders to ensure the Company complies with regulatory requirements and supports the Company’s business objectives.
Principle Duties & Responsibilities
Tax compliance:
- Manages the timely and accurate filing of all tax returns (income and sales tax, GST, VAT, withholding tax) for North America and overseas, the same for the International Entities
- Ensures compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations in multiple jurisdictions
- Manages tax provision calculations (both income and deferred tax) for financial reporting under IFRS and local GAAP
- Monitors changes in tax laws and regulations globally and assesses their impact on the organization
- Provides forward-thinking tax planning advice and implements strategies to manage tax risks
Transfer pricing:
- Coordinates the development and documentation of transfer pricing policies to ensure compliance with international tax requirements
- Oversee analytical review of transfer pricing and ensures accurate allocation of income and expenses across different entities
- Ensures appropriate agreements are in place to support intercompany activities
Other:
- Provides tax advice as required, ensuring tax efficiency in corporate transactions and business opportunities
- Manage tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities in North America and overseas, the same for the international entities
- Works collaboratively and serves as the primary point of contact with external tax advisors, auditors and our parent company
- Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) designation
- 5 years of progressive tax experience, ideally with a large multinational company, or Big-4 firm
- Strong knowledge of Canadian tax laws and regulations, familiarity with US tax law and international tax regulations is a plus
- Excellent analytical skills with a strong attention to detail and the ability to interpret complex tax regulations
- Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Occasional international travel may be required
The starting salary range for this position is $100,285 - $148,600 based on candidates’ qualification, experience, and internal parity
