The client currently relies on employees traveling for short workweeks. This setup has led to interruptions in progress, as work often restarts weekly when the team returns. To ensure consistent support and operational continuity during this critical startup phase, the client is seeking additional contingent staff.
About the Company
The client operates a startup biorefinery plant focused on producing sustainable fuel. The plant is currently in startup mode, requiring specialized engineers to address infrastructure challenges as they move toward full operation.
Role Overview
The client seeks 1-2 Engineers to join their team for a 3-month contract to support plant startup operations. There is a strong likelihood of contract extension due to ongoing work. These professionals must be able to hit the ground running, leveraging their expertise in compressors and wastewater infrastructure to troubleshoot and optimize the plant’s systems.
Responsibilities

Work onsite at the plant to support startup operations.

Address infrastructure challenges, including compressors, pumps, and other critical plant components.

Support the module-by-module commissioning process, particularly around testing and troubleshooting operational issues.

Ensure proper flow of feedstock and fuel by tuning equipment and resolving errors.

Collaborate with the onsite team to achieve plant stability and operational efficiency.
Additional Technical Requirements

Integrate systems into DCS equipment.

Monitor flow rates and consistency of operations; analyze fluid breakdowns to ensure smooth operations.

Ensure hardware and physical infrastructure are functioning optimally.

Troubleshoot and resolve issues with compressors, including a specific problematic compressor (name pending, starts with "C").

Work with wastewater systems.

Utilize the following technologies:

Rockwell Systems

FactoryTalk

Studio Logic (managing PLC and DCS systems)

Alarm Sentinel for alarm management (prior experience in alarm management is a strong asset).

Aviva PI for data aggregation.
Qualifications
-
Educational Background: Mechanical, Process, Chemical, Instrumentation Engineering, or experience as a Commissioning Engineer or Maintenance Engineer at a similar type of plant.

Startup Experience: Hands-on experience in plant startup operations, particularly in biorefinery, chemical, or related industries.

Compressor Expertise: Strong understanding of compressor functionality, troubleshooting, and optimization.

Infrastructure Knowledge: Familiarity with pumps, wastewater systems, and other plant infrastructure components.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, troubleshooting-focused environment.
