Overview:
One of our most respected clients within the power logistics industry is looking for a GIS Solution Architect to join its team on an initial 12-month contract based here in Calgary, Alberta.
What you will be doing:

Investigate and diagnose technical problems related to GIS software, data, and workflows, using your analytical skills to identify root causes and implement appropriate solutions.

Perform data analysis tasks, such as data querying, manipulation, and validation, to support GIS projects, data updates, and quality control efforts.

Monitor GIS systems, networks, and servers to ensure optimal performance and proactively identify and address potential issues.

Design and develop comprehensive GIS architectures that align with business requirements, taking into account scalability, performance, and security considerations.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and document detailed solution designs, including data models, system workflows, and integration points.

Engage with clients to understand their GIS needs, provide technical guidance, and present innovative solutions that address their business challenges.

Maintain and create technical documentation, including system designs, standard operating procedures, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions to facilitate the smooth implementation and operation of GIS solutions.

Assist in testing and validating GIS software updates, patches, and new releases to ensure compatibility, functionality, and reliability.

Provide technical leadership and guidance in GIS technology selection that will align with business objectives and requirements.

Collaborate with project managers to define project scope, milestones, and deliverables related to GIS solutions, and actively participate in project planning and execution.

Stay updated with the latest GIS trends, technologies, and best practices, and actively contribute to process improvements, system enhancements, and automation initiatives to streamline GIS operations.
What you must have :
-
5+ years of related work experience.
-
Geospatial design and development experience: ArcGIS, FME, Migration standards, Python.
-
Experience ESRI ArcGIS Geospatial technologies.
-
Corporate IT roadmap oversight where GIS technology touches multiple corporate applications.
-
Familiarity with multiple components of Microsoft, SAP, home grown outage application and CRM integrations.

Adept at programming/scripting languages such as Python, FME, ArcGIS Configuration.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
-
Experience with SQL Server and Oracle databases, Windows operating systems, client-server applications and n-tier technology.

Strong ability to query, analyze and interpret data.
-
Experience supporting and enhancing electrical utility engineering, field operational, asset management, dispatch, workforce management, Control Center or GIS systems.

In-depth knowledge and experience with a minimum of 5 years work experience with one or more of the following:

C++, C# .NET

Python
-
PowerShell
-
JavaScript
-
SQL or PL/SQL
-
Experience working in a regulated environment, preferably within the electrical utility industry, is preferred.
