Overview:
The Rolling Shift Supervisor is responsible for the supervision and coordination of an assigned shift work force engaged in steel mill rolling operations involving warehousing, reheating, and reducing of steel billets to manufacture concrete reinforcing steel bars or similar bar mill products. Under the guidance of the Rolling Mill Superintendent, this position is primarily accountable for the maximum production at the lowest cost in accordance with established schedules. The incumbent reports to the Rolling Mill General Supervisor, along with three (3) other Rolling Mill Supervisors. 


What you will be doing:

  • Responsible for production of prescribed quality of products. 

  • Responsible for maintaining scheduled production and meeting production goals and objectives. 

  • Responsible for proper, efficient, and effective work methods. 

  • Responsible for proper operation and utilization of equipment to prevent damage and minimize repair. 

  • Responsible for the diagnosis and subsequent solution of breakdown problems. 

  • Responsible for selection, training, safety, discipline, grievance resolution, and the proper administration of other personnel policies for employees. 

  • Responsible for employee attendance control and turnover. 

  • Cooperates and coordinates with other supervisors, departments, and services to minimize downtime and breakdowns to maximize production of quality product. 

  • Responsible for optimum material yield through minimization of cobbles and proper setups. 

  • Responsible for administering safety programs. 

  • Responsible for proper housekeeping of rolling mill. 



What you must have:

  • The incumbent must have six (6) to eight (8) year’s experience in steel rolling methods and techniques.

  • Additionally, the incumbent should have a working knowledge of manufacturing methods and techniques involving the use of heavy mill machinery and related equipment; being familiar with properties of metals related to ASTM specifications for bar mill products; and the ability to assist with the diagnosis of breakdown problems and maintenance repairs.

  • Previous qualifying experience on related work or lesser jobs of five years with practical training pertaining to steel mill rolling and finishing operations, and to include some supervisory experience.
