Overview:
The Operations Manager is responsible for leading and assigning the daily operational work of the distribution warehouse with a focus on safety, continuous improvement, relationship building, communication and strategic planning to provide an exceptional experience for our customers. The incumbent develops strong relationships with our customers, Procurement, Sales, and other key cross-functional areas at the company. The Operations Manager reports to the Regional Director, or Regional Operations Manager, and is a member of the  Operations team. This position is based out of our Langley, BC location.


What you will be doing:

  • Lead, direct, and oversee the day-to-day warehouse activities including but not limited to shipping, receiving, inventory control and the maintenance of all warehouse equipment, machinery, and facility.

  • Ensure staff are fully trained and sets clear expectations for the team to meet daily and weekly targets.

  • Manage new hire orientation and onboarding for all new employees; conducts new hire check-ins during first 100 days and annual performance reviews.

  • Work with the Regional Director and/or Regional Operations Manager to set the budget(s); ensures the facility meets its operational KPIs and the regional team/leaders are kept informed.

  • Responsible for administration of warehouse safety programs to provide a safe and clean workspace for employees within all state/provincial and federal safety regulations.

  • Ensure the operational plans are executed, the company's Standard Best Practices are achieved and sustained; collaborates with the Ops Excellence Team on new project, systems and process improvement opportunities while sharing results/best practices with greater Operations community.

  • Collaborate with Sales Operations Managers and regional Sales team to ensure our customers’ service and quality expectations are being met; identifies cost effective solutions to align with our customer segmentation model and strategic product goals.

  • Identify and develop high potential talent for cross functional responsibilities, leadership roles and internal growth within the company.

  • Develop and maintain carrier relationships to ensure communications and services provided meet the company’s and customers’ needs.

  • Review, select and continuously evaluate outside vendors providing services to the operations including maintenance, facilities, equipment.

  • Partner with leasing company to oversee all aspects of facility maintenance department

  • Lead all cycle count/physical inventory processes to achieve benchmark targets; implement special projects to improve warehouse operations across the facility and/or company

  • Ensure compliance on all local, state/provincial and federal laws and regulations related to people, operations, safety, etc.


What you must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or proven experience in the manufacturing, production, or distribution environment; supervisory or managerial experience preferred. Knowledge of warehousing, logistics, operations, transportation and supply chain principles and processes.

  • Experience supervising and motivating others

  • Strong communication and customer service skills; interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to handle changing priorities and use of good judgement in stressful situations

  • Demonstrate leadership skills in implementing and managing change through process improvement and reviewing performance metrics

  • Experience with the full staffing lifecycle, including interviewing, hiring, performance management, promotions, and termination

  • Lean/business improvement experience. Ability to plan, organize and manage multiple projects & set priorities.

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Teams, Excel, PowerPoint); SAP and/or Warehouse Management System (WMS) experience preferred

  • Ability to read and analyze reports and SOPs related to warehouse operations (P&L, budget preparation, inventory, labor/overtime costs, turnover, engagement, and monitoring expenses).

  • Knowledge of millwork products & services preferred.


Salary/Rate Range: $80,000 - $120,000
