Overview:
Our client is seeking a Finance Director to lead the finance function for their major Civil construction projects along the Pacific west coast, in the USA and Canada. Reporting to the VP of Finance, this role will work with operations leadership and oversee the business unit’s finance team. This position is based in Vancouver, BC. Relocation assistance may be provided to the successful applicant.
What you will be doing:

Prepare and present annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and reports.

Analyze discrepancies and recommend improvements.

Manage yearly financial audit activities.

Advise management on business cases.
-
Provide accounting recommendations, ensuring IFRS compliance.

Enhance finance processes and support process improvement.

Build a strong network across teams.

Support financial presentations & analyses.
-
Perform ad-hoc financial analyses.

Provide insights and influence decision-making.

Identify and report on key performance metrics.

Maintain a register of financial risks and opportunities.

Ensure optimization of working capital and operating cash flow.

Mentor, coach, and develop the finance team.

Maintain a positive work culture.

Lead the finance team and facilitate performance management.

Ensure adequate finance resources and participate in succession planning.
What you must have:
-
10+ years of progressive Finance experience with at least 5 years in a senior Finance leadership role

Experienced in project-based accounting
-
Exposure to the Construction sector, ideally heavy Civil projects - ie. roadways. bridges, tunnels, dams, rail, etc

An excellent track record in mentoring and developing finance teams

Exceptional financial management knowledge

Ability to work in a self-managed team structure and multitask in a fast-paced environment

Strong planning and organizational skills with an ability to prioritize and execute tasks under pressure.

Excellent communication and presentation skills

A degree in Accounting or Business Management

Canadian CPA designation
Salary/Rate Range: The pay range for this position is $160,000 - $180,000 CAD.
