Overview:
Our client in Winnipeg, MB is looking for a Project Manager for an initial 1-year contract with the option for renewals. This role requires onsite meetings once or twice weekly and the successful candidate(s) must be currently residing in the Winnipeg area or be willing to relocate to the area for the duration of the contract.


What you will be doing:
The department of Information Services & Technology’s (IST) Project Management Office uses external Project Managers to manage technology projects. The Project Management Office provides project management capabilities including project management resources and methodology. The technology projects can vary from Development, Infrastructure, Integration, and Package Selection/Implementation.

  • The Project Manager works closely with the Solution/Technical Architect. Typically, Project Managers are expected to manage between 3-6 projects at one time. 

  • Our client has an immediate need for one Senior Project Manager to lead and manage several Enterprise projects, ideally that has experience managing multiple enterprise level projects of both Infrastructure and Application. Prior experience implementing projects in a Higher Education environment is an asset. Prior experience with Ellucian Banner products is also an asset. Prior experience implementing data and recovery solutions is considered an asset.


What you must have:

  • PMI PMP or Prince2 certification.

  • Experience working as a Project Manager in a Canadian Higher Education environment.

  • Experience working with Ellucian products.

  • Experience managing or implementing backup and recovery solutions.

  • Experience implementing enterprise projects in a large environment.

  • Experience implementing Infrastructure and Integration projects.

  • A solid foundation of Information Technology skills and experience.

  • Application/package selection and implementing packages with various integration points.

  • Experience working in collaboration with Solution Architects.

  • Experience Facilitating planning sessions/workshops with large diverse groups.

Prior experience in the following areas would be an additional asset for consideration:

  • In Program Management as well as Senior Project Management.

  • With complex projects with multiple concurrent streams of work.

  • With Organizational Change Management

  • Working with a Privacy Officer and Information Security Officer.

  • Working in a multi-union environment with several collective bargaining units.

  • Working with an Agile methodology, managing projects with sprints

  • Performing the role of Business Analyst on a project as needed.
