The Specification Account Specialist plays a pivotal role in facets of day-to-day solutions selling of the company’s products in the assigned branch or region. You will be responsible for collaborating with consulting engineers to provide technical support and expertise to resolve problems, conduct product demonstrations, foster strong business relationships, and support the sales team’s strategies to achieve personal and group sales objectives—all while striving for customer satisfaction.

This position is home-office based in Edmonton, Alberta, and requires regular face-to-face meetings with consulting engineers, clients, and contractors within the region. Travel to client meetings, site visits, and industry events is required within and beyond Alberta.


What you will be doing:

  • Work closely with consulting engineers to understand their project requirements and recommend the most suitable products from the manufacturer’s portfolio.

  • Offer in-depth product knowledge and technical support to consulting engineers, ensuring that products meet project specifications and performance standards.

  • Assist consulting engineers in creating detailed specifications for the company’s products, ensuring correct integration into project designs and compliance with industry standards.

  • Lead technical presentations, product demonstrations, and training sessions for consulting engineers, architects, and project teams to showcase the benefits of the manufacturer’s solutions.

  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with consulting engineers and other key industry stakeholders, becoming a trusted resource for technical guidance and product recommendations.

  • Collaborate with the sales team to ensure that engineering solutions are specified and adopted in key projects, supporting both technical and commercial aspects of sales.

  • Regularly monitor industry trends, product developments, and competitor offerings to maintain a competitive edge and offer the best solutions to consulting engineers.

  • Provide ongoing support to consulting engineers during design and construction phases, addressing technical issues and ensuring product performance meets expectations.

  • Enter relevant data in CRM daily.


What you must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Civil, or related field), or equivalent industry experience

  • 3–5 years of experience in technical sales, engineering support, or a similar role, preferably within the manufacturing industry

  • Background in consulting engineering or hydronic system design strongly preferred

  • In-depth understanding of hydronics systems, designs, and applications is essential

  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, product specifications, and industry standards relevant to the company’s product range

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively present complex technical information to a variety of audiences

  • Proven ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with consulting engineers and other industry professionals

  • Experience in sales or customer-facing roles, with the ability to combine technical knowledge and solution selling strategies to drive business growth

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite

  • A self-starter attitude with the ability to work independently
