Job Title: Mechanical Designer / Electrical Designer
Job ID:
80843
Location: Central Point, Oregon

Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Designer / Electrical Designer to join our engineering team. This hybrid role will support both mechanical and electrical system design across new and existing aircraft platforms. The ideal candidate will be proficient in CAD software, comfortable interpreting engineering schematics, and experienced in supporting cross-functional development teams within a manufacturing or aerospace environment.

What you will be doing:

  • Design, model, and document mechanical and/or electrical systems, components, and assemblies using CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar).

  • Prepare detailed 2D/3D drawings, wiring diagrams, harness layouts, and schematics per engineering and FAA standards.

  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and avionics engineers to develop and revise designs to meet performance, manufacturability, and regulatory requirements.

  • Conduct tolerance analyses, layout studies, and BOM generation.

  • Support product lifecycle activities including prototyping, design reviews, change management, and production support.

  • Participate in design validations, installations, and testing efforts, both on the shop floor and in-field as needed.

  • Ensure compliance with AS9100, FAA, and Erickson internal documentation standards.

  • Utilize Capital Logic Designer to create and manage detailed electrical schematics and logical connectivity designs for complex systems.

  • Develop and document logical signal flows, including wires, splices, connectors, and multicore configurations, within a robust graphical environment.

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to translate system-level requirements into accurate logical and physical wiring designs.

  • Ensure design integrity and compliance with industry standards using Capital’s rule-based validation and integrated design-management tools.

  • Support design iterations and change management efficiently through Capital’s centralized data architecture and version control features.

What you must have:

  • Preferably, the candidates will have a strong mechanical design background using Solidworks. Additionally, we would like to find someone with electrical design experience, proficient with Capital Logic.

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Drafting Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).

  • 3–5+ years of experience in mechanical or electrical design within aerospace, defense, or industrial manufacturing environments.

  • Proficient in CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA, or equivalent.

  • Strong understanding of design for manufacturing (DFM), GD&T, and engineering documentation practices.

  • Experience working with aircraft wiring diagrams, schematics, harnesses, and mechanical installations preferred.

  • Familiarity with FAA design standards and aerospace documentation is a plus.

  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and within a team setting.

Other Information:

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

  • This position may require occasional on-site support at Erickson’s production facility.

  • Ability to obtain necessary background clearance, if applicable.
