Overview:
Our client is looking for an Intermediate to Senior Data Engineer to lead the development of a scalable Databricks-based lakehouse architecture, integrating data from ERP, POS, and ecommerce systems to support business intelligence, advanced analytics, and AI/ML initiatives for a growing Canadian retailer.


What you will be doing:

• Lead the setup and ongoing development of the company’s Databricks environment, owning all infrastructure, pipelines, and integrations.

• Build robust ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest and structure data from key business systems.

• Design and implement semantic layers that translate raw data into business-friendly formats.

• Collaborate with stakeholders across Finance, Operations, and Retail to deliver clean, standardized data for analysis and reporting.

• Implement data quality monitoring, governance, and access controls to support audit-readiness and scalability.

• Mentor junior data professionals and help evolve the organization’s internal data maturity and practices.

• Ensure the company has a single source of truth and can enable advanced analytics and forecasting.

What you must have:

• 3–5+ years of experience in data engineering, with at least 2 years of hands-on experience using Databricks in production environments.

• Strong proficiency in SQL and Python for building scalable, cloud-native data pipelines.

• Experience designing and implementing medallion architecture (bronze, silver, gold layers) and data lakehouses.

• Experience working with AWS cloud services for deployment and integration.

Nice to have:

• Familiarity with Power BI for business-friendly data model development.

• Experience integrating data from ERP (e.g., Sightline/INFOR), POS (e.g., Square), and ecommerce platforms.

• Knowledge of Unity Catalog or other data governance frameworks.

• Experience mentoring or collaborating within cross-functional, low-ego technical teams.

Salary/Rate Range: $100,000.00 - $115,000.00
