Overview:
Our client is seeking a results-driven and safety-focused Mine General Manager to oversee the efficient operation of a surface mining site. This executive leadership role will be responsible for ensuring production and cost targets are met while upholding the highest standards in safety, environmental stewardship, operational performance, and community engagement. The successful candidate will provide strategic direction across all site departments including mining, processing, maintenance, engineering, administration, and human resources.

What you will be doing:

• Ensure compliance with all safety, health, and environmental policies and applicable government regulations.

• Promote and reinforce a strong safety culture across all levels of the operation.

• Collaborate with engineering leadership to guide mine planning, geology, ventilation, ore control, ground support, and geotechnical monitoring.

• Work closely with maintenance leadership to ensure fleet reliability, equipment optimization, and the implementation of maintenance strategies and programs.

• Drive operational performance to meet or exceed production and cost objectives.

• Oversee capital and operational budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes.

• Assess and plan for future equipment, infrastructure, and staffing needs.

• Participate in procurement decisions related to equipment, parts, and inventory management.

• Serve as the primary contact for key external stakeholders including clients, community partners, and regulatory agencies.

• Lead the development of strategic business plans and operational roadmaps.

• Foster a culture of employee development through coaching, mentoring, training, and succession planning.

• Perform additional duties as required to support the overall success of the operation.

What you must have:

• Minimum 10 years of progressive management experience in surface mining 

• Demonstrated leadership in large-scale operations with responsibility for multiple departments.

• Proven track record of driving operational and financial performance.

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline preferred; equivalent industry experience may be considered.

• MSHA or other relevant industry certifications an asset.

Skills and Competencies

• Strong leadership and team development abilities.

• Excellent business and financial acumen.

• Effective communication and negotiation skills.

• Experience with project and program management.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and industry-related systems.

• Ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with diverse stakeholders.
