Role Summary

The Medical Interpreter / Translator plays a vital role in ensuring clear, accurate, and culturally sensitive communication between patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals. Under the direction and supervision of program leadership, this position provides high-quality interpretation and translation services that support patient understanding, access to care, and positive healthcare experiences. This role is ideal for a bilingual professional who is passionate about supporting older adults, values inclusivity, and thrives in a collaborative healthcare environment.

 Duties

  • Provide professional interpretation services, including the use of appropriate medical terminology, for patients and staff as needed.

  • Translate non-legally binding documents such as training materials, medical appointment information, and patient communications.

  • Work directly with team members and patients to support effective communication across care settings.

  • Coordinate and manage scheduling to provide interpretation services at multiple center locations.

  • Fulfill all administrative responsibilities, including documentation, recordkeeping, participation in meetings, and completion of satisfaction surveys.

  • Demonstrate professionalism, discretion, and respect for patient health information at all times.

  • Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned.

 Required Qualifications

  • Bilingual proficiency (verbal and written) in English and Mandarin.

  • English fluency (both verbal and written) is required.

  • Interest in, experience with, or demonstrated ability to work with elderly populations.

  • Ability to work effectively within a diverse, collaborative team environment.

  • Professional, flexible, and resourceful approach to work.

  • Strong commitment to confidentiality and respect for patient health information.

  • Cultural sensitivity and awareness when working with diverse populations.

  • Computer literacy and the ability to use standard office and documentation tools.

  • Ability and willingness to travel to different center locations as needed.

 Desired Qualifications

  • Certification in healthcare interpretation is preferred.

  • Prior experience providing interpretation or translation services in a healthcare or community-based setting.

  • Experience working with the senior population.

 Location & Work Type

  • On-site role

  • Travel is required between multiple center locations

  • Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
