Water Treatment Technician

Base Salary Range: $68000 - $85000

The Opportunity:

We are supporting our client, an leader in Canadian specialized water treatment solutions, in adding to their team for a year round water treatment technician.  This role guarantees year round employment with avenues for onwards progression.

This role is responsible for delivering dewatering and solids control services while also providing on-site project coordination. Depending on project scope and experience level, the successful candidate will operate equipment, support fluid management activities, and/or oversee full site execution.

The position plays a critical role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and profitably, with accountability for labour, materials, subcontractors, and compliance.


Core Responsibilities

Technical & Field Execution

  • Perform dewatering, flocculation, and fluid-handling services

  • Operate and maintain sludge pumps, water pumps, and metering systems

  • Set up and manage dry and emulsion polymer systems

  • Install and configure hoses, piping, liners, and Geotube® units

  • Set up equipment, tools, and materials for various applications

  • Conduct site assessments, inspections, installations, and repairs


Site Supervision & Project Coordination

  • Provide full-time on-site supervision where assigned

  • Allocate labour, equipment, materials, and subcontractors to optimize safety and profitability

  • Communicate scope requirements clearly to technicians and subcontractors

  • Monitor production, quality, and contract compliance

  • Track and manage materials, including ordering, inspection, and verification of shipments

  • Calculate and monitor material quantities to prevent overruns

  • Track and document extra work in accordance with contract requirements

  • Coordinate with consultants, engineers, project managers, and client representatives regarding scope adjustments or discrepancies

  • Support invoicing and payment certification through accurate quantity reporting


Safety & Compliance

  • Administer and enforce all company and OHSA safety policies

  • Conduct site safety meetings and toolbox talks

  • Issue written infractions when required

  • Prepare incident and deficiency reports

  • Communicate with regulatory bodies as necessary to ensure compliance

  • Promote a proactive safety culture across project sites


Reporting & Communication

  • Provide progress reports, labour timesheets, and documentation to head office

  • Maintain ongoing communication with developers, consultants, suppliers, and municipal authorities

  • Escalate project risks, discrepancies, and compliance concerns appropriately


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of site safety and OHSA requirements

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate company vehicles

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Proficiency with MS Office

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

  • Self-motivated with a strong interest in the environmental sector

  • Occupational First Aid – Level 1 (or equivalent)

  • Experience in environmental, civil, construction, or water management projects
