Overview:
We’re partnering with a well-established commercial construction organization specializing in doors, frames, and architectural hardware (Division 8) to identify an experienced Foreman to lead field installation crews. The DFH Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating installation teams responsible for hollow metal frames, wood and metal doors, and architectural hardware on commercial construction projects. This role ensures installations are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project plans, specifications, and approved hardware schedules. The Foreman also serves as the primary field liaison between installation crews, the Project Manager, and the General Contractor’s Superintendent.


What you will be doing:
Crew Supervision

  • Lead and supervise door, frame, and hardware installation crews.

  • Assign daily work tasks and manage installer workflow.

  • Ensure productivity, efficiency, and high-quality workmanship.

  • Train and mentor installers and apprentices.

Installation Oversight
Oversee installation of:

  • Hollow metal frames (grouted and non-grouted)

  • Knock-down and welded frames

  • Wood and hollow metal doors

Architectural hardware including:

  • Hinges

  • Door closers

  • Locksets and cylinders

  • Exit devices

  • Door coordinators

  • Automatic operators

  • Electrified hardware

Ensure installations comply with:

  • Approved hardware schedules

  • Manufacturer installation instructions

  • ADA and life-safety requirements

  • Project plans and specifications

Job Site Coordination

  • Coordinate closely with the General Contractor’s Superintendent and other trades.

  • Schedule installation work in alignment with construction sequencing.

  • Identify and resolve field conflicts such as:

    • Incorrect door openings

    • Frame alignment issues

    • Hardware compatibility concerns

    • Electrical coordination for electrified hardware

Quality Control

  • Verify proper installation and alignment of frames and doors.

  • Ensure all hardware operates correctly and meets project requirements.

  • Inspect completed work to maintain high quality standards.

  • Identify and resolve installation deficiencies.

Material Management

  • Coordinate delivery and staging of doors, frames, and hardware.

  • Verify shipments for accuracy and completeness.

  • Ensure materials are stored and protected properly to prevent damage.

  • Communicate shortages or damaged materials to the Project Manager.

Field Documentation

  • Maintain daily job reports and documentation.

  • Track labor hours and crew productivity.

  • Provide progress updates to the Project Manager.

  • Document field issues and potential change orders.

Safety Compliance

  • Enforce job site safety requirements and company policies.

  • Conduct safety meetings with installation crews.

  • Ensure proper use of tools and equipment.

  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment.

Punch List & Project Completion

  • Coordinate punch list completion.

  • Ensure proper adjustment and operation of doors and hardware.

  • Support final inspections and project turnover requirements.


What you must have:

  • 5+ years of experience installing commercial doors, frames, and hardware.

  • 2+ years of experience supervising installation crews.

  • Strong knowledge of:

    • Hollow metal frames

    • Wood and metal doors

    • Architectural hardware

    • Hardware schedules

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and field coordination skills.


Nice to have:

  • Experience working on Division 8 commercial construction projects.

  • Familiarity with electrified hardware and access control systems.

  • OSHA safety certification.

  • Experience coordinating with general contractors and multiple trades.

Salary/Rate Range: $30 – $45 per hour
