Design Trade Specialist (Outside Sales & Showroom)

Calgary, Alberta • Direct Hire • April 01, 2026 • 86942

Base Salary Range: $70 - $80

On behalf of our client, TEEMA is seeking a Design Trade Specialist (Outside Sales & Showroom) for our client with over 50 years of experience in flooring.

They have evolved from a pioneering family business into Western Canada’s premier purveyor of luxury flooring. Known for their artful approach to interiors, specializing in quality wool broadloom, in-stock and made-to-order area rugs, and premium hardwood collections. With a rich heritage rooted in quality and an eye for global design trends, our client serves as a vital resource for the architectural and interior design community. From their tastefully appointed showrooms in Vancouver and Calgary, they are able to provide trade professionals with an unparalleled selection of ethically sourced and curated products. They don't just sell flooring; they provide the foundation for the most beautiful residential, commercial, and hospitality spaces in North America.

TEEMA is seeking a high-energy, well-connected Design Trade Specialist to join our client's Calgary team.  We are looking for a sales professional who is already an active part of the Calgary design scene. You are someone who thrives on building relationships, understands the artful foundation of luxury flooring, and wants the autonomy to manage a territory with the backing of a 50-year legacy.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Market Partnership: Partner directly with the Senior Specialist to work the Calgary market, ensuring consistent touchpoints with top-tier design firms, architects, builders and contractors.
  • Outside Sales & Specification: Spend the majority of your time in the field, leveraging your existing network to get our premium broadloom, made-to-order rugs, and hardwood specified into the city’s most prestigious project.
  • Showroom Excellence: Provide a professional home base for the trade by maintaining a presence in their Calgary showroom. This includes hosting client consultations and managing sample libraries (flexible part-time showroom hours).
  • Technical Consultation: Act as a trusted advisor on product selection, advising on material durability, fiber content (wool, silk, etc.), and the technical nuances of hardwood in the Alberta climate.
  • End-to-End Project Management: Oversee the sales cycle from the initial mood board and sampling to coordinating site measurements, quoting, and ensuring a flawless final result for the client.
The Ideal Candidate:
  • Connected: You are already a familiar face in the Calgary design and/or flooring community. You have a pulse on the local market and existing relationships you can activate on day one.
  • High-Energy Hunter: You have a "self-starter" engine and prefer being on the move. You find the process of winning a new specification genuinely energizing.
  • Collaborative Spirit: You value the "partnership" model and are excited to work alongside a seasoned pro to share insights, leads, and market strategy.
  • Design-First Mindset: You have a keen eye for aesthetics and can speak the language of interior designers fluently.
Adaptable: You enjoy a "hybrid" workflow—balancing the high-touch service of the showroom with the fast-paced nature of outside sales

Compensation & Benefits:
  • Competitive Base + Uncapped Commission: A structure designed to reward your hustle and the overall growth of the Calgary territory.
  • Flexible Schedule: Showroom hours are part-time and flexible, allowing you to prioritize the high-value field work that drives results.
  • Growth Support: Car allowance, mobile tech, and an extensive sampling program to ensure you have everything you need to win.
  • Brand Prestige: Representation of a world-class catalog of ethically sourced, high-end products with a 50-year reputation for quality.
