Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse to provide high-quality, individualized nursing care to adult patients before and after surgical procedures. This role is ideal for an RN who thrives in a fast-paced environment, responds confidently to changing patient conditions, and works collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to support positive patient outcomes. The Med-Surg RN is responsible for patient assessment, medication administration, monitoring vital signs, documenting care in the electronic medical record, and initiating the computerized Plan of Care upon admission. This position may also include floating to other departments based on experience and qualifications.

What you will be doing:

  • Provide direct nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients

  • Assess patient conditions and respond quickly and accurately to changes in status or response to treatment

  • Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and facility policies

  • Monitor, document, and communicate patient progress in the electronic medical record

  • Initiate and maintain the computerized Plan of Care upon admission

  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated, effective care

  • Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, recovery, and ongoing care needs

  • Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold all standards related to privacy and professional practice

  • Deliver compassionate, culturally competent, age-appropriate care that addresses physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs

  • Adapt to changing priorities and perform a variety of clinical duties with professionalism and composure

  • Float to other departments, when qualified, to support patient care needs

  • Support the hospital’s mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures

  • Participate in required educational programs, including DNV-related training as applicable

  • Perform other related duties as assigned


What you must have:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Oregon

  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications

  • Evidence of continuing education appropriate to skill level and area of practice

  • Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and ability to work independently

  • Ability to maintain composure and effectiveness while managing multiple priorities


Nice to have:

  • BSN or MSN

  • Previous Medical-Surgical nursing experience

  • Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (CMSRN)
