Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join a healthcare team within a correctional facility in Wisconsin. This role offers the opportunity to provide essential nursing services while working in a structured and collaborative environment focused on patient care, safety, and medication management.
This is a 26-week contract assignment with a consistent weekday schedule and rotating weekend and holiday coverage.

Key Responsibilities

Administer and pass staff-controlled medications to incarcerated patients within housing units and cell halls.

Distribute and document Keep-On-Person (KOP) medications in accordance with facility policies and procedures.

Audit medication carts and medication inventories to ensure compliance with regulatory and facility standards.

Transfer, organize, and reconcile medications when patients are relocated between cells, housing units, or buildings.

Accurately document medication administration and patient interactions in the electronic medical record.

Monitor patients for medication effectiveness, side effects, and adverse reactions.

Maintain security protocols while delivering nursing care within a correctional environment.

Collaborate with registered nurses, providers, pharmacy staff, and correctional personnel to support patient care needs.

Perform additional nursing and administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Current, active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the State of Wisconsin or ability to obtain prior to start.

Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing program.

Current CPR/BLS certification.

Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience preferred.

Previous correctional, long-term care, behavioral health, or medication administration experience is highly preferred.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to work effectively in a secure correctional environment.

Excellent communication and documentation skills.
