Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to provide quality nursing care within a correctional healthcare environment. The LVN will work collaboratively with physicians, registered nurses, and interdisciplinary healthcare staff to deliver comprehensive medical services to an incarcerated population while maintaining safety, security, and professional standards of care.


What you will be doing:

  • Provide direct nursing care to patients in accordance with established policies, procedures, and standards of practice.

  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments accurately and safely.

  • Monitor patient health status and report significant changes to the Registered Nurse, physician, or other appropriate healthcare provider.

  • Conduct patient assessments and document findings in the electronic medical record.

  • Assist with intake screenings, sick call, chronic care clinics, and emergency response situations.

  • Perform routine nursing procedures, including wound care, vital signs monitoring, specimen collection, and medication administration.

  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation of all patient care activities.

  • Educate patients regarding health conditions, medications, and treatment plans.

  • Ensure compliance with infection control, safety, and correctional facility security procedures.

  • Collaborate effectively with correctional staff and healthcare team members to ensure continuity of care.

  • Respond appropriately to medical emergencies and assist with emergency interventions as needed.

  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations and facility policies.


What you must have:

  • Current and unrestricted Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license in the applicable state.

  • Current CPR/BLS certification.

  • Ability to work effectively in a correctional environment.


Nice to have:

  • Previous correctional healthcare experience.

  • Experience in medical-surgical, emergency, behavioral health, or public health nursing.


Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM Every other weekend required and rotation of 3 major holidays and 3 minor holidays annually
