Overview:
A well-established architecture and engineering firm is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to support continued growth across the Northeast. This position is ideal for a relationship-focused business development professional who understands the architecture, engineering, construction, commercial real estate, or development community. The successful candidate will build and maintain client relationships, identify new commercial opportunities, and collaborate with firm leadership to expand the organization’s presence throughout the region. The company recognizes that effective business development begins with a strong understanding of its people, services, and project capabilities. During the first year, the Business Development Manager will be given time to learn the organization, establish internal relationships, and become a credible representative of the firm before significant new-business expectations are introduced.
What you will be doing:

Develop and maintain relationships with new and existing clients

Identify business opportunities throughout the Northeast region

Represent the firm at client meetings, conferences, conventions, networking events, and industry functions

Work closely with firm principals, practice leaders, and sector leaders to develop client-growth strategies

Support the development of new commercial accounts while strengthening existing relationships

Establish a visible presence within relevant industry and regional networks

Research prospective clients, projects, and market opportunities

Coordinate business development activities and significant industry dates

Assist leadership with adjusting business development strategies based on market conditions

Communicate the firm’s services, capabilities, and value proposition to prospective clients

Maintain consistent contact with clients and prospective business partners
-
Travel throughout the Northeast region as needed
What you must have:
-
Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, public relations, administration, or a related discipline

At least 10 years of relevant business development, sales, client development, or relationship-management experience
-
Experience in business development within an architecture, engineering, MEP consulting, building-design, or closely related professional-services environment.

Strong understanding of consultative and relationship-driven business development

Established Northeast industry relationships are preferred, but an existing book of business is not required

Experience developing relationships with commercial clients, developers, owners, or other project stakeholders

Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills

Ability to build credibility with architects, engineers, executives, clients, and industry leaders

Comfortable working independently while collaborating with principals and practice leaders

Willingness and ability to travel for client meetings, conferences, conventions, and networking events
Other Information:

Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday in-office (may consider a hybrid)

Territory: Northeast United States
The company currently provides performance-based annual merit reviews. This position does not currently include a commission or bonus plan, although the organization is developing a future bonus structure. -
Base Salary: $100,000 to $150,000, based on experience

Travel: Regional travel required
