Overview:
The E2 – Engineer is a professional engineer or geoscientist who applies engineering knowledge to provide engineering, estimating, planning, and quality management services for medium complexity projects and/or operations safely, with quality, within budget, and on time. 

 

What you will be doing:

  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for electricity generation equipment, including supporting documentation such as maintenance procedures, maintenance instructions, record forms as well as selection of required spare parts to sustain equipment operation. All deliverables with quality, within budget, and on time.

  • Contribute to the development of safe engineering solutions by performing activities such as studies of limited scope and applying prescribed methods and techniques in solving problems for projects and/or operations. 

  • Assist with specific aspects of more complex engineering activities adhering to prescribed analysis, design, or computation methods by following established practices working under close supervision of a senior professional engineer who reviews work for accuracy, adequacy, and conformance with prescribed procedures. 

  • Participate in BC Hydro’s engineering practice using initiative and judgement in making a few routine technical decisions, applying standards and following detailed instructions so that BC Hydro’s engineering standards are maintained. 

  • Perform periodic tasks independently which may include on-site construction quality control and monitoring to ensure design compliance. 

  • EGBC Registrants provided to the company through this contract shall work under the company's Professional Practice Management Plan, Quality Management Pillar. The Registrant shall apply their own or their firm’s Permit to Practice Number to work that is Sealed by the Registrant. Retention and preservation of all project documentation produced by the Registrant during the course of their contract with BC Hydro will be retained by the company to satisfy EGBC Bylaws.

 

What you must have:

  • Engineering Degree – Electrical or relevant such as Industrial Engineering

  • Registered EIT

  • Must be able to come to office on hybrid basis.

  • Must have minimum two (2) years of engineering experience working in the equipment maintenance and/or commissioning field, or equivalent.

  • Experience with operation, maintenance, and remediation of failures of equipment and systems in the power utility industry, oil and gas industry, or heavy industrial environment

  • Experience developing preventive maintenance programs and/or developing/performing commissioning plans for a variety of electrical assets including:

    • generator exciter

    • DC power supply equipment (batteries, chargers, etc

    • medium and low voltage AC power supply equipment (oil filled and dry type transformers, power circuit breakers, disconnect switches, surge arresters, switchgear, power distribution panels, etc)

    • control & monitoring related components

    • electrical protection related components 

  • Reading and understanding drawings and manuals to articulate how a system works and how the system can fail and what needs to be done to prevent failures either from a design or an effective maintenance standpoint 

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize when given multiple competing assignments 

  • Good decision making and conflict resolution skills 

  • Ability to coordinate with engineering subject matter experts, field personnel, regulatory compliance personnel, etc for the development and implementation of maintenance programs.

 

Nice to have:

  • Ability to coordinate with engineering subject matter experts, field personnel, regulatory compliance personnel, etc for the development and implementation of maintenance programs.

  • Knowledge of Reliability Center Maintenance (RCM) is desirable but not essential

  • Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) is desirable but not essential


Salary/Rate Range: $45.00 -$55.00 per hour


Term: 12-month contract; most likely to extend
