What you will be doing:

Lead and establish the Building Structural Engineering Discipline serving key clients in BC

Liaise regularly with other Structural discipline offices across the company

Prepare in the proposal process and participate in business development activities that cultivate and establish key working relationships

Perform periodic site visits and attend client meetings

Mentor and develop technical staff which include technologists and engineers
-
Develop reports and contract documents, including construction drawings and technical specifications
-
Oversee schematic and detailed designs and evaluation of planning and concept alternatives

Ensure the quality of detailing is consistent with the Company’s standards

Collaborate on larger-scale project pursuits where external design services are required and determine when the company should be considered for sub-contracted work

Participate actively in the project management schedule assuming the responsibilities of XYZ
What you must have:
-
Degree and any post graduate education in civil or Structural Engineering
-
Registered as a professional engineer (P.Eng) with a Canadian engineering regulatory body or another applicable organization with reciprocity agreements.

Current Designated Structural Engineer/ IStructE status or desire to pursue it upon commencement in the position.

Current consulting engineering experience in building structural engineering practice with direct experience in the design of a minimum three building projects (local experience in BC lower Mainland or Vancouver Island regions is an Asset)

Minimum of 6 plus years’ experience in Mass Timber, Concrete, Steel, and Wood design in Institutional, Residential, or Commercial design

Knowledge of building science, seismic, and construction techniques

Experience with coordination of other building design disciplines including Geotechnical, Architectural, Building Science, Mechanical and Electrical teams.

Experience with and the ability to interrpret and explain bylaws, codes and practice including the National Building Code of Canada, British Columbia Building Code, Vancouver Building By-Law or comparable codes.

Ability to foster strong working relationships across internal disciplines and externally with clients.

Demonstrated ability to apply both technical and business acumen.
