Overview:
We are looking for a technically skilled leader to support our Vancouver-based engineering team as we work toward the launch of a new product this summer. This role involves guiding the team in delivering high-quality work, managing workloads, promoting productivity, and creating a collaborative and forward-thinking environment. You will work closely with the VP of Engineering in the United States and partner with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth alignment and successful project outcomes. This is a hybrid position, requiring three days per week in our Vancouver, BC office.

What you will be doing:

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operations and performance of the engineering team

  • Facilitate daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives

  • Provide technical guidance and remove obstacles that hinder engineering progress

  • Support the timely and high-quality delivery of projects and features

  • Contribute directly to development tasks such as feature implementation, bug fixes, and other critical activities when needed

  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering leaders to prioritize work and drive project success

  • Encourage a mindset of innovation and continuous improvement within the team

  • Oversee team engagement, conduct performance reviews, and support the growth and development of team members

  • Enhance and enforce best practices in engineering and agile methodologies

  • Promote a culture of openness, accountability, and creativity within the engineering team


What you must have:

  • At least 6 years of experience in software development, including 2 or more years in a leadership or management role supporting distributed teams

  • Strong technical foundation with hands-on programming experience and a degree in Computer Science or a related field

  • 5 or more years of experience working with Rails and React

  • Ability to offer both strategic technical direction and hands-on support when required

  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills

  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities when working with global stakeholders

  • Experience in real estate technology or a similar industry is a plus

  • Familiarity with running technical design and planning sessions

  • Experience using tools such as Jira and Confluence to document and manage work

  • Effective problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills


Salary/Rate Range: $150,000 - $175,000
