Overview: 
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Controls Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and ongoing sustainment of a robust resource forecast and management system utilizing existing system data within the company. This role is based in the Construction Planning, Practice, and Controls group within our Capital Construction business unit.

 

What you will be doing:

  • The ability to extract, transform large and load large volumes of system data. To accurately forecast the resource management requirements for various departments within Capital Construction, while ensuring data accuracy and integrity.

  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with project teams to ensure accurate data collection and rectification of incongruencies.

  • Provide reports and documentation to support Divisional Management resource forecasting requests.

  • Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6.

  • Experience using SAP Business Warehouse (SAP-BW4HANA), SAP Analytics Cloud.

  • Intermediate-level programming (e.g. VBA, SAS, R, Python, Power BI Desktop (including DAX and M), Power BI dataflow authoring, and business intelligence modeling.

  • Fulfill requests for ad-hoc queries and recurring reporting. To be successful, you can independently formulate sound methodology to address businesas questions.

  • Experience in an electric utility environment and large construction projects project controls would be an asset.

  • Plan, direct, and report on infrastructure and other construction project activities by consistently monitoring project benefits, resources and status and creating documents such as project plans, action logs, communication plans, status reports and post implementation reviews so that the project is implemented as planned. 

  • Develop project plans and risk management plans for high risk and highly complex infrastructure or other construction projects with a capital cost that may be in excess of $100 million for effective management throughout the project lifecycle. 

  • Manage multiple activities effectively such as quality assurance, engineering, First Nations and stakeholder engagement, communication, regulatory approvals, procurement, planning and controls, construction management, pre-commissioning, employee relations, and safety by using project management principles in monitoring progress and establishing standards for implementation to keep the project within allotted time and budget. 

  • Complete project management activities including scoping, planning, managing, monitoring, and reporting on project tasks by using advanced skills in Microsoft Office as well as project management programs to fulfill the company’s business needs. 

  • Maintain meaningful relationships with stakeholders including customers, engineers and field crews through regular communication using excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills enabling timely progression of projects. 

  • Establish standards for implementation and monitoring using excellent analytical skills and a comprehensive knowledge of project management practices and procedures to optimize project resources.

 

What you must have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Economics or related discipline 

  • Bachelor’s degree Engineering, an asset 

  • Project Management Professional (PMP®) designation, preferred 

  • Program Management experience, an asset 

  • Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project) 

  • Advanced English skills for professional environment, written and spoken

 

 Salary/Rate Range: $82.00 - $101.00 per hour


Term: 12 month contract; most likely to extend
