The Opportunity

A well-established manufacturer of advanced electrical test equipment is adding a Field Service Technician to support growing customer demand. This is a newly created role offering long-term stability, deep technical training, and meaningful ownership over complex service work.

This position is ideal for an electronics professional who enjoys hands-on troubleshooting, values independence, and wants to develop expertise in high-voltage test systems over time.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Repair, calibrate, and maintain complex electrical and electronic test equipment

  • Perform service both in-house and at customer sites

  • Support customers via phone, email, and virtual tools (Teams)

  • Troubleshoot issues to the component level

  • Prepare, test, and calibrate equipment prior to customer delivery

  • Generate accurate service and calibration documentation

  • Coordinate with internal service, engineering, and sales teams

  • Follow documented quality and safety procedures (ISO environment)

  • Support field visits, including planned and reactive service calls

Training & Ramp-Up

  • Structured onboarding

  • Initial focus on in-house service alongside experienced technicians

  • Gradual progression to advanced systems and on-site customer work

  • Strong technical support — without micromanagement

What We’re Looking For

Required

  • Strong foundation in electronics (education or equivalent experience)

  • Ability to read and understand schematics

  • Experience using electronic test equipment (DMMs, oscilloscopes, probes, generators, etc.)

  • Comfortable working independently and managing your own workload

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills

  • Willingness to travel and work extended days when required

Preferred / Assets

  • High-voltage equipment experience (can be trained with strong fundamentals)

  • Field service or calibration background

  • Component-level troubleshooting and soldering experience

  • Experience in regulated or quality-driven environments

Travel & Work Schedule

  • Approximately 18 trips per year

  • Mostly domestic travel with occasional international trips

  • Combination of planned and reactive service visits

  • Travel days may exceed standard hours; overtime is expected and supported

How Success Is Measured

  • Turnaround time on serviced equipment

  • Monthly volume of units serviced

  • Low rate of repeat issues or returns

  • Quality, accuracy, and customer confidence — not micromanaged metrics

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Skills-first hiring approach (not rigid salary filtering)

  • Long-term technical growth in a niche, in-demand field

  • High trust, low micromanagement environment

  • Direct impact on customer success and product quality

  • Stable team with deep technical expertise
