Field Service Technician – (HV Test Equipment)
Location: Fort Collins, Colorado
Compensation: $30–$35/hour (flexible based on experience)
Travel: 25–50% (primarily domestic; some international)

The Opportunity
A well-established manufacturer of advanced electrical test equipment is adding a Field Service Technician to support growing customer demand. This is a newly created role offering long-term stability, deep technical training, and meaningful ownership over complex service work.
This position is ideal for an electronics professional who enjoys hands-on troubleshooting, values independence, and wants to develop expertise in high-voltage test systems over time.
What You’ll Be Doing

Repair, calibrate, and maintain complex electrical and electronic test equipment

Perform service both in-house and at customer sites

Support customers via phone, email, and virtual tools (Teams)

Troubleshoot issues to the component level

Prepare, test, and calibrate equipment prior to customer delivery

Generate accurate service and calibration documentation

Coordinate with internal service, engineering, and sales teams

Follow documented quality and safety procedures (ISO environment)

Support field visits, including planned and reactive service calls
Training & Ramp-Up

Structured onboarding

Initial focus on in-house service alongside experienced technicians

Gradual progression to advanced systems and on-site customer work

Strong technical support — without micromanagement
What We’re Looking For
Required
-
Strong foundation in electronics (education or equivalent experience)

Ability to read and understand schematics

Experience using electronic test equipment (DMMs, oscilloscopes, probes, generators, etc.)

Comfortable working independently and managing your own workload

Clear written and verbal communication skills

Willingness to travel and work extended days when required
Preferred / Assets

High-voltage equipment experience (can be trained with strong fundamentals)

Field service or calibration background

Component-level troubleshooting and soldering experience

Experience in regulated or quality-driven environments
Travel & Work Schedule

Approximately 18 trips per year

Mostly domestic travel with occasional international trips

Combination of planned and reactive service visits

Travel days may exceed standard hours; overtime is expected and supported
