What you will be doing:

Lead the development and execution of strategic business plans to expand Aecon’s UTS footprint in the U.S., targeting high-impact transit infrastructure opportunities.

Direct market research efforts to identify emerging trends, competitive threats, and regulatory shifts in the U.S. transit sector.

Monitor market trends, regulatory changes, and competitor activities.
-
Identify and pursue new business opportunities in urban transportation infrastructure including LRT, subway, commuter rail and APM projects.

Build and maintain relationships with transit authorities, developers, and joint venture partners.

Identify, evaluate, and negotiate strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and alliances that align with Aecon’s long-term growth objectives.

Coordinate with marketing, estimating, legal, operations, and engineering teams to ensure cohesive pursuit strategies and project delivery alignment.

Oversee capture planning for major pursuits, including win strategies, competitive positioning, and client engagement plans.

Represent Aecon at high-level industry forums, government briefings, and strategic stakeholder meetings to elevate brand presence and influence.
What you must have:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related field (MBA preferred).

Minimum 12 years of progressive experience in business development, including leadership roles in infrastructure or transit sectors.

Ability to translate market insights into actionable growth strategies and measurable outcomes.

Ability to influence senior stakeholders, lead complex negotiations, and deliver compelling presentations.

Strong understanding of capital markets, project finance, and commercial structuring in large-scale infrastructure projects.

Ability to represent the company at the highest levels with professionalism, credibility, and strategic insight.

Has a strong network and experience in the U.S. transit market.

Demonstrated experience successfully managing the competing objectives of many external and internal stakeholders.

Ability to deal with uncertainty, changing and multiple priorities.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

Willingness to travel across the U.S. and to Canada as required.
