About the Opportunity
Our client is a well-established manufacturer in the commercial HVAC and chiller space, known for delivering high-performance, energy-efficient cooling solutions across North America and globally. They are seeking a Sales Application Engineer to support technical sales efforts across the South Central U.S. region.
This is a customer-facing, pre-sales engineering role that bridges sales, engineering, and manufacturing. The successful candidate will help translate complex project requirements into practical, competitive equipment solutions for consultants, contractors, owners, and sales partners.
This position is well suited to someone with a strong background in commercial HVAC, chilled water systems, and chiller applications, combined with the ability to support sales through technical credibility, equipment selection, and solution development.
Key Responsibilities

Partner with the regional sales team and representative network to understand customer requirements, project specifications, and system design needs

Develop equipment selections and application solutions aligned with performance, efficiency, and project requirements

Prepare technical proposals, equipment recommendations, and submittal support for commercial HVAC projects

Review specifications, bid documents, and schedules to ensure proposals are accurate, competitive, and compliant

Support technical discussions with consulting engineers, contractors, end users, and internal stakeholders

Deliver technical presentations, product training, and application guidance to customers and channel partners

Evaluate competitive equipment and help position solutions effectively based on performance, lifecycle value, and application fit

Collaborate internally with engineering, manufacturing, service, and product teams to ensure proposed solutions align with operational capabilities

Provide technical feedback to support product strategy, application resources, and market responsiveness

Participate in industry events, trade shows, and technical forums as needed
Qualifications
-
3–7+ years of experience in one or more of the following:
-
HVAC applications engineering
-
Mechanical system design
-
Technical sales engineering
-
Support of commercial or industrial HVAC equipment

Strong knowledge of:
-
Chilled water systems
-
Commercial HVAC system design
-
Centrifugal or large-tonnage chillers
-
Energy efficiency metrics such as IPLV, NPLV, and COP
-
System optimization and lifecycle cost analysis

Experience supporting technically complex commercial HVAC projects

Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline preferred; equivalent industry experience will also be considered
Preferred Background

Direct chiller experience is strongly preferred

Candidates from commercial HVAC manufacturers, applied equipment businesses, or closely related technical sales / applications environments will be of greatest interest

Strong adjacent HVAC candidates with solid mechanical aptitude may also be considered
