Overview:

They are seeking a proactive, experienced Site Superintendent to lead day-to-day site operations and ensure construction projects are delivered safely, on time, and to the highest standards of quality. This role requires a hands-on leader with strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage subcontractors and trades with professionalism and efficiency.
What you will be doing:

Lead all on-site activities and maintain consistent progress toward project milestones and performance targets

Collaborate with the Project Management and Estimating teams to resolve design, engineering, or construction issues before they impact the schedule

Coordinate, supervise, and inspect the work of all ACL staff and subcontractors

Maintain site safety in compliance with ACL’s safety protocols and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations

Prepare daily site reports, safety documentation, and submit records to head office as required

Provide orientations to new staff and subcontractors based on ACL’s safety program

Oversee site cleanliness, organization, and security, including lock-up procedures and after-hours access for trades

Monitor and approve on-site time tracking for ACL staff

Identify and report equipment needs, perform routine safety inspections, and ensure only trained personnel operate machinery

Assist in training, mentoring, and skill development of site staff

Coordinate manpower and equipment logistics to support company-wide objectives

Schedule and lead regular site meetings with subcontractors and office staff

Order and track materials, assist in identifying lead times, and maintain awareness of contract scope items

Review workmanship quality, enforce contract compliance, and lead deficiency resolution

Promote a team-first mindset and represent ACL’s values on-site through leadership, accountability, and integrity
What you must have:

10+ years of hands-on construction experience with at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role

Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings
-
Deep understanding of Alberta Building Code and construction best practices

Familiarity with a wide range of scopes including framing, rebar installation, concrete forming and finishing, siding systems, thermal and moisture protection systems, millwork, and interior/exterior finishing

Ability to manage temporary utilities (power, heat, lighting, air circulation) for site setup

Experience using surveying tools, setting anchor bolts, and interpreting elevations

Effective trade coordination, scheduling, and conflict resolution skills

Strong communication skills with owners, architects, consultants, and trades

Proven track record of maintaining safety standards and leading toolbox talks and orientations

Valid driver’s license with clean driver’s abstract

Ability to travel or coordinate accommodations for out-of-town work if required
