Overview:
Our client in Winnipeg, MB is looking for a Senior SQL Systems Analyst for an initial 4-month contract with the possibility for renewals. This role is hybrid requiring 1-2 days onsite weekly so the successful candidate(s) must be currently residing in the Winnipeg area or be willing to relocate to the area for the duration of the contract.
What you will be doing:
My Research Tools (MRT) is a system used to serve as a method of interfacing Research related data from separate systems, and to allow users to access reporting on the curated data. MRT is an interfacing tool comprised of a series of applications that provides users with more comprehensive views of data and convenient access to files. MRT data are stored on servers that are owned and maintained by the Research Information Systems team (RIS). Custom PHP applications residing on a webserver that draws on the MRT database to display the curated records. MRT is commonly used by 4 stakeholder groups to support business processes. These groups include:
1. VP Research & International (RIS Team)
2. Principal Investigators (PI)/Researchers
3. Faculties and Offices (Support Staff across all faculties)
4. Financial Services
MRT enables these groups to efficiently execute critical business processes by providing capabilities related to Client Interfacing, Reporting, Diagnostics and Data Entry. Through its reporting applications, MRT enables Project and Protocol Searching and the ability to view documents. Providing these capabilities to all faculties and offices across the organization through custom systems also presents risks and opportunities. The system is built on a dated database platform, Ellucian ODS. A Senior SQL Systems Analyst is sought to conduct analysis and document source data, assess business requirements, and develop new queries/integrations using SQL, PHP, Javascript. They will collaborate closely with project stakeholders to develop these new data queries to support analytics, reporting, and operational needs.

Strong Oracle PL/SQL and T-SQL skills

SQL development, creating new SQL reports and data extracts

PHP and Javascript development

Report analysis and migration specifications: reverse engineering, data sources, parameters and dependencies, and produce specifications for migration or redesign.

Data validation and testing: confirm that data outputs are accurate and approved by business

What you must have:

Must have an in-depth knowledge and experience with Oracle PL/SQL.

Must have in-depth experience with Microsoft T-SQL.

Must have experience with writing and analyzing complex SQL queries.

Must have experience in software development using PHP and Javascript.

Must have experience using Gitlab for code management and deployment.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required.

Proven technical aptitude with ability to learn new systems quickly is required.

Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.

Ability to develop strong intrapersonal working relationships is required.

Experience working in a Higher Education environment.
Prior experience in the following areas would be an additional asset for consideration:

Experience working with Ellucian products.

Experience with Prince2 or Agile Project Management.

Experience working with a Privacy Officer and Information Security Officer.
