Overview:
Reporting to the Manager, Security & Compliance, the Junior Industrial Security Agent supports projects from a government security compliance perspective. This role requires sound judgment and the ability to anticipate risks to project timelines when obtaining government security approvals, assessing project-specific security requirements, and communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will contribute to continuous improvement by anticipating stakeholder needs and helping advance tools, technologies, and processes. Staying current with best practices within the government security and controlled goods community is essential. This role also requires the ability to provide practical guidance to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements while enabling business objectives, along with strong problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset.
What you will be doing:

Ensure compliance with all requirements related to the Contracts Security Program (CSP) and Controlled Goods Program (CGP)

Prepare and maintain Project Security Plans, outlining applicable government security regulations
-
Liaise with gvernment and intelligence partners (e.g., CSIS, RCMP) as required

Prepare reports on the status of government approvals related to IT security, physical security, and document safeguarding
-
Stay informed on project developments by attending internal and external reviews

Support the preparation of bids and proposal packages, from bid/no-bid decisions through contract implementation and management

Monitor risks, escalate issues, and recommend mitigation strategies

Advise on project physical security requirements to ensure compliance with Industrial Security Directorate (ISD) guidelines

Assist with government inspections, including:
-
Physical security
-
Document safeguarding
-
Classified information processing
-
COMSEC
-
Controlled goods
-

Administer visit clearance requests and manage visitor access procedures

Ensure all visits (incoming/outgoing) are properly documented, including access requirements (site and/or IT systems)

Coordinate the tracking, storage, and transfer of classified information and documentation
-
Develop and implement Security Requirements Checklists (SRCLs) for projects
-
Deliver training and awareness sessions on CSP and CGP requirements
-
Maintain personnel security clearance records to ensure appropriate access levels
-
Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with government security programs
-
Liaise with contractors responsible for security equipment and ensure contractual compliance
-
Act as the Alternate Company Security Officer (ACSO) when required

Provide after-hours support as needed

Perform other related duties as assigned
What you must have:

Minimum 6 months of experience in an ACSO and/or CSO role

Strong knowledge of the Canadian Contracts Security Program (CSP) and Controlled Goods Program (CGP)

Post-secondary education in business administration, law enforcement, IT security, or a related field is an asset

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels

Experience coordinating across multiple departments toward shared objectives

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple high-priority tasks
-
Sound judgment and ability to handle sensitive and complex security files
-
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
-
Bilingualism is an asset (interaction with clients across regions and international regulatory frameworks, such as ITAR)
Salary/Rate Range: $37,000 to $55,000 CAD annually.
