What you will be doing:

  • Environment, Health and Safety must be a priority.

  • Support and initiate safe work practices, following all Paramount policies and procedures.

  • Work with technical Support, Operations, Integrity, and Engineering groups in Reliability Programs, Pipeline Integrity, Root Cause Analysis, Risk Analysis and Failure Mode Cause and Effect Analysis are required.

  • Troubleshoot and performance maintenance on cathodic rectifiers and cathodic protection systems.

  • Complete Bi-Monthly rectifier readings, assist in interpreting results and take corrective action where required.

  • Complete testing and ensure effectiveness of current control bonds.

  • Identify and recommend solutions for AC interference.

  • Recommend and implement solutions for foreign pipeline crossings to prevent CP interference.

  • Complete annual cathodic protection surveys and communicate results to Third Party CP Engineer as required.

  • Design and install impressed CP systems and sacrificial anode systems.

  • Coordinate work with 3rd party companies for assessments of their pipelines that may required Paramount rectifiers to be turned off.

  • Coordinate the shut off and turn on of rectifiers associated with pipeline work.

  • Work with the Maintenance team and within Maximo maintenance system to rectify deficiencies found during monitoring program.

  • Provide technical leadership in cathodic protection matters.

  • Share knowledge and skills with operations and maintenance teams as required.

  • Coordinate daily personal work activities to ensure deadlines are met and reliability and regulatory requirements are met

  • Maintain records and drawings.

  • Maintain a high standard of workmanship, safety awareness and housekeeping.

  • Supervise contract services as required.


What you must have:

  • Minimum Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.

  • NACE CP courses level CP3 will be required

  • Valid Alberta Journeyman Electrician Certificate or Interprovincial Red Seal equivalent would be beneficial.

  • Safety Courses including H2S Alive, First Aid, and ATV/UTV Training.

  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license.

  • Ability to troubleshoot Cathodic Protection equipment and systems.

  • Competent in standard computer operations.

  • Strong safety consciousness and situational awareness.

  • Strong troubleshooting and decision-making skills

  • Strong focus on safety, integrity and reliability.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently while keeping stakeholders informed.

  • Occasional overtime may be required.



Salary/Rate Range: $87,000.00 - $145,000.00
