Duties & Responsibilities
Field Phlebotomy & Patient Care

Specimen Collection: Travel independently to diverse customer locations to obtain high-quality blood specimens using varied, age-appropriate techniques for all patient populations.

Mobile Technology: Utilize ROVER functionality proficiently for specialized clients and seamless integration with the in-house hospital phlebotomy workflow.

Safe Transport: Securely transport collected specimens from the field and ensure their timely, safe delivery to the main hospital laboratory.

Specimen Intake & Verification: Unpack transport bags, validate the number of specimens received, verify identifiers on requisitions and tubes, and proactively resolve any paperwork or labeling discrepancies.

System Registration: Enter outreach laboratory orders into the Hospital Information System (HIS) to ensure ancillary departments receive correct testing orders, prioritizing the workload for timely processing.

Distribution & Log Management: Label and distribute specimens to the correct laboratory departments, reviewing the "Specimen Master Log" Draw Sheet to ensure perfect precision in the accessioning process.

Client Customer Service: Enthusiastically answer incoming telephone calls, resolve client inquiries efficiently, and compile and document necessary supplies for outreach delivery.

Team Collaboration: Support the in-house phlebotomy team as a back-up, attend daily huddles, and meticulously document field issues in the HIS to ensure seamless communication across shifts.

Reporting: Maintain a safe, clean work area using universal precautions and submit accurate daily mileage reports.

Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Keyboarding Skills: Demonstrated ability to type at least 35 words per minute.

Core Competencies: Basic computer proficiency, familiarity with standard office equipment, and adherence to professional behavioral standards.
Desired Qualifications

Certifications: Current Phlebotomy Certification is highly preferred.

Experience: One or more years of previous phlebotomy experience, preferably within a healthcare or laboratory environment.

Clinical Knowledge: Familiarity with basic medical terminology.

Specialized Software: Hands-on knowledge of EPIC BEAKER (HIS) is a definite plus.
Location and Work Type

Work Type: Per Diem (24 hours a week), Direct Hire Permanent Position.

Shift Information: Early Morning Day Shift (5:00 AM – 8:30 AM), covering every other weekend and every other Monday, including holidays.

Work Setting: A refreshing mix of independent local travel to community field locations and on-site laboratory collaboration.
