Overview:
On behalf of our client, one of BC's Top Employers for 2026, we are seeking a Hybrid Billing Clerk to join their amazing, collaborative legal team located in downtown, Vancouver, BC. HYBRID-ONSITE with the opportunity to work one set day per week remotely after successful completion of the probationary period. Reporting to their Controller, we are seeking a professional, motivated, and detail-oriented Billing Clerk to support our client's accounting department. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with a dynamic, team-oriented group and contribute to a fast-paced, high volume, client-focused environment. The successful candidate will be energetic, adaptable, and highly organized, with a strong drive to deliver accurate and timely work.


What you will be doing:

  • Coordinate billing processes for lawyers and paralegals

  • Manage billing cycles and ensure deadlines are met in accordance with firm and client requirements

  • Prepare and review pre-bills in accordance with client guidelines, firm standards, and established schedules

  • Review billing data for accuracy and completeness, ensuring compliance with client-approved rates, billing protocols, and exception agreements

  • Prepare and process invoices accurately and in a timely manner

  • Apply retainer funds as directed by lawyers and process write-offs in accordance with firm policy

  • Maintain and update billing and exception rates, as required

  • Prepare reports related to time entries, billing, and other reporting, as needed

  • Investigate and resolve billing and payment discrepancies in a timely manner

  • Work closely with lawyers and legal assistants to support billing requirements and ensure timely bill completion

  • Identify opportunities to improve billing processes and efficiency

  • Provide additional accounting and administrative support and coverage, as required


What you must have:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a billing, accounting, or administrative role within a professional services environment is preferred

  • Strong understanding of billing processes and basic accounting principles

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook and Excel

  • Experience with 3E or similar accounting/billing software is an asset

  • Experience with e-billing platforms such as TyMetrix, CounselLink, or Legal-X is an asset

  • Familiarity with client billing guidelines and compliance requirements is an asset

  • Strong aptitude for working with numbers, financial data, and systems

  • Demonstrated ability to identify discrepancies, investigate issues, and resolve them efficiently

  • Commitment to delivering a high standard of accuracy and client service

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain efficient workflows

  • Proven ability to handle a high volume of work in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment

  • Proactive mindset with the ability to anticipate work needs, take initiative, and work independently

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with lawyers, paralegals, and other firm members

  • Composed, reliable, and able to remain calm under pressure

  • Personable and team-oriented, with a collaborative approach to work

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of client, firm, and billing information


Salary/Rate Range: The salary range for this role is $64,000 - $72,000+ annually, which represents a fair market value and estimate of possible compensation at the time of posting.
