Our client is currently recruiting for a SHEQ Coordinator. This is a full-time, 18-month term position reporting to the VP – Western Canada. As SHEQ Coordinator, you will ensure that operations are supported by exceptional service from the Health and Safety department, helping drive a culture of zero incidents and total customer satisfaction. This role requires up to 70% travel to project sites, with time spent out of the Ayr, ON office to complete paperwork and administrative tasks.
What you will be doing:

Ensure adherence to safety policies both on and off site, and encourage coworkers, clients, and suppliers to follow the same standards

Assist management and committees with workplace inspections and risk assessments as needed

Monitor that all working processes (flowcharts, procedures, instructions, forms) are clear, unambiguous, and aligned with the global Health and Safety policy

Report observations to the SHEQ Manager, discuss possible solutions or improvements, and help implement continuous improvements

Investigate workplace accidents and incidents, and report findings

Represent the company during safety meetings with clients, discussing current safety policy and staying current on client expectations

Regularly evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of safety policies and safe-work plans, adjusting as needed

Keep key stakeholders informed of updates to safety policies

Monitor local and provincial compliance with OH&S policies and procedures
What you must have:
-
3 to 5 years of experience in a Health and Safety role

NCSO/OHS Certified, or actively working towards NCSO

In-depth knowledge of OH&S legislation in Alberta
-
Familiarity with ISO 9001 is an asset

Excellent presentation and communication skills
-
Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English

Familiarity with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Field experience

Salary/Rate Range: $80,000–$90,000 per year, based on experience
